Look at this crazy shit!
From the same friend who sent me the Kawasaki Jet Mate last week comes this bonkers half boat contraption that allows you to take the whole family along on a jet ski ride then ditch them on the beach while you go scooting around.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
It’d be straight out of a James Bond movie if it wasn’t for all the purple and yellow accenting.
I grew up in the nineties and I generally recall it all being a bit grey and dowdy. The flares and colours got left in the seventies and the big hair and neons of the eighties were now hella uncool. But apparently in the PWC world it was always 5 o’clock somewhere.
Like who bought these things new?
At
$5k CAD I get that
he’s appealing to a retro/collector
market because where are you going to find another. That said for most people this is CP
because you
could
buy a
similar sized functional boat with
its
own motor for that (jetski is not included).

Answers the question “how can I get more ladies on my jet ski?”

I remember seeing these at a boat show when I was a kid!! I honestly think there was more than on manufacturer that had something like it.

This fits the 90s well. Remember, that is when the automotive world started to go crazy. Chrysler gave up on the K-car and gave us the Neon, Stealth and Viper. Honda launched the NSX at the beginning of the decade and the S2000 at the end . Lexus launched the IS200 at the end of the decade. We finally got the Corvette C5 that fixed many of the boring parts of the C4. Ford finally retired the fox body and came out with the SN-95 Mustang. Then there were the crazy ideas like the GMC Typhoon and Syclone.

There is a HUGE scene here in MN and other places for vintage jetskis. I used to have a couple of 1989 Kawasaki X2s! I painted it to match my boat!

I remember these. Never saw one in person but I remember my dad coming home really excited with a brochure. They had twin and single ones too. One thing I never understood - how does it deal with waves? Like how does it even deal with chop let alone getting air.

I actually really like the concept of these. I’m just not sure how you would go about just taking the jet ski if it were only me. I guess you could unhook the jet ski and leave the boat attached to the trailer.
I saw one for sale near me last year, and if I had a good place to store it I would’ve seriously considered it. I don’t know that I’d get enough use out of one to be willing to pay to store it.

I showed this to a friend who has a jetski up at the family cottage and we got to wondering surely it can’t be strapped in securely enough to get up
on plane?

That would explain why nobody has ever seen one before...
I’m also really
curious about how a double would work to sync the drives and throttles

Oh yeah, they move along just fine. The twin ski ones especially.

The windjet is the one my dad was excited about
Seems like a better concept because you pilot it like a boat and you can have both a boat and jetski going at once

Oh I don’t doubt it, they’re cool,
fun
and affordable
things
to collect. I expect this thing will find a buyer once the quarantine lifts, I'm just amazed something so niche got built at all.
