I finally caught the owner of this beautiful VW Thing today while walking about. We had a nice chat about things, mainly Things. Turns out he semi-dailies it, which would explain why I always see it around.
The interesting angle comes from the fact that this job site lies at a much lower elevation than the walking path, which makes its way behind the old Brumby Rocking Chair Factory, now chic apartments.
Judging by the age of the driver, she may be the original owner.
Nice MG, which may or may not be stuck there with a tire in a hole. I don’t usually walk down this street because of the traffic and pedestrians, but it was worth it to see this.
If I hadn’t stopped to take a picture, I might have hit my head on this low awning.
One of these is a proper longroof, the other a wagon on stilts.
Single cab short bed F150s exist in the wild! Oh, and nice color on that Mustang convertible.
CTS Coupes exist in the wild too!
Conversion vans are really starting to get scarce on the ground.
These two wheelers are observing proper social distancing. Are you?
What is art! Baby don’t hurt me. . . oh, you are shapely, aren’t you? Shapes. . .

The Mercedes is a 300TD, the wagon version of my sedan, W123s. It has later model wheels on it instead of the bundt cakes. They are probably an inch bigger or more.

Oh OK now I see it. I just didn’t recognize that specific naming designation.
Now that you mention it, those wheels are too big to be period correct.

Those are from the models after 1985, the boxy ones. Early W123s had the hub caps and then after 1982 I think they were all the alloys like mine here:
