What does Oppo think of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ?

It’s a 1999 Corvette hardtop that has been...well...modified into a dune buggy. Probably a hell of a lot of fun. But the bidding currently sits at $15,000 with 5 days left. That’s more than I paid for my C5 (with about 75k fewer miles than this one).

I’d probably vote CP on the price, but I’m not going to lie. I would love to romp the desert in it for a day or two.

While it might be a CP, it’s a lot easier than getting a C5 and doing that yourself and might be cheaper than paying someone to do it. If you’ve got ~$20k for a toy, this might not be a bad buy at all.

Inherent to the Corvette design is certain behaviors by a certain age group. Sure hope this one enjoys touring a vast walled property outside  Phoenix while making vroomy noises.  Makeup mirrors that are basically useless anytime the engine is running were good for a laugh at least.

CP. Hard CP. Mostly due to it being woefully unfinished if it is a “dune buggy” . Needs some things still rerouted, I can see the fluid resivoirs right next to the rock and pebble chucking tires, and it’ s missing any form of armor for the underside. It isn’t a dune buggy, it’s just a death kart. And those are supposed to be budget rebuilds of already damaged or scrapped cars.

Hell, what makes it “off roadable” in general? Is it just an IDGAF attitude? Cause a small rock will remind you to actually give afuck really fast with how low the radiator sits unprotected.

Rompin through the desert requires a couple more inches of ground clearance. Not a lot but without digging to see what they did to the suspension it need more hop than stock.

Not really, this is just a cage over a base C5. The body panels come off pretty easily, and you start with a cart as is. That’s like $7500 worth of Vette. It’s a major CP. You can buy a beat up C5 for under $5k, or you can buy a pre-wrecked cart, see: Leroy the Savage.

From the ad:

The Corvette suspension was retained and has been raised using factory adjusters.

Probably a little bumpier and stiffer than your average dune buggy.

I think it’s a nice price for a toy you drive around town. It may not be a good dune buggy but I am sure it will put a smile on your face during a cruse.

The exoskeleton cage is a nice piece of fabrication. And the off road tires gives it a neat lets have fun vibe. Anybody who buys it at that price has money to burn, so why not!

BTW, It actually looks like a concept that Factory 5 ought to pick up on.......

I would be cooler if it had open headers that exit right out the side...

Doesn’t FFR basically do a version of the 818 like this?
