The last of the parts I have ordered so far for my machine arrived yesterday right before I had to go to work, so I had to wait. I went ahead upgraded my system while I was supposed to be sleeping earlier today.
New specs:
Ryzen 9 3900x, 32GB of G.SKILL Trident Z Neo RGB 3600MHz (Yay more RGB!) and an Asus X570 board, this also allowed me to install my GTX 970 and my GTX 1080 Ti.
The processor upgrade has taken me from a calculated 30-50k PPD to around 200-250k PPD alone, and adding in my 970 added around 500k PPD.
Sadly my RTX 2080 Ti still doesn’t show as shipped so I won’t be able to lay down as big of numbers yet, but I might be able to catch jkminer finally, and maybe Eury with my current setup if it gets enough WUs.
Next will be a new case, eyeing either the Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL ROG or the Thermaltake Core P5 tempered glass case with the extra glass panels to make it more enclosed. And of course I’ll be switching to watercooling when I upgrade my case as well.
Here is a crappy photo of the mesh window of my case. It’s not pretty because this case has terrible cable management, but it works and stays plenty cool even with two GPUs and a 12 core CPU running full bore.

I’ve found that newer tech heat output tends to be the same as o ld tech unless overclocked.

It was already throwing out some good heat, so the difference should be negligible to me. Though I am contemplating moving my setup into my spare bedroom to move some of the heat out of my bedroom, but also because it would give me a lot more room.

Jump in TDP or adding a second discrete GPU will have a compound effect on heat soak though.
OC’ing and de-restricting access to power are not the same. Removing C-states is barely scratching the surface.
I’m sure you are well aware both these ideas I’m just expressing socially for those reading along.

Nice! I’m sure you’ll pass me soon. I’ve been gaming all day since Snowrunner came out and that’s killing my PPD, plus, you should be doing more than meat full power once the 2080ti comes online.

Damn, now I’ll never catch up. I have my 3700x not folding when I’m working during the day and just my 2070 Super cranking away. I had to dial back the OC because I got a few WU that were dumped by the server when sending them back so I’m down to around a theoretical 1.9 m PPD which ends up being about 1.5 in practice and waiting on WUs and with 40 min of gaming a day

I just built this new PC and have a cannibalized system in the attic with a 2500k and a 1060 hanging around but it seems like a hassle to get them running again.
My new rig is an mATX so I cant get my 1060 in here without ramming it
up right
next to the 2070 super and making temps go through the roof
