Okay, last year I replaced the rear tires on the Mustang with Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/Ts because the Kelly Chargers were 21 years old.

Now, the fronts are 15 years old (I thought they were more recent- they weren’t), but there’s a problem.

M/T doesn’t make that tire in a 225/60/15.

I’ve got two choices. Either go to 235/60/15, or get a different brand of front tire. The tires on this car have never matched, but it’s a style thing. (most tires have sidewalls that are too ‘busy’ looking for my taste.

Also, would there even be any difference driving wise between the two sizes? Rears are 275/60/15.

EDIT: 235s it is.

As long as the 225s aren’t rubbing or close to it, I’d just go with the 235s. Not a big deal- I’d hate to have a mismatched sidewall front to rear.

I think they do on full lock. Which is funny because the 225s are the stock size and on the stock wheels. Oh well. I’m probably just going to go to 235s.

Driving feel will be the same as long as they don't rub. Is your mustang lowered? Otherwise I can't imagine one size bump in width would cause rubbing while driving, maybe low speed full lock.

how about 215/60/R15 ? slightly smaller diameter and width, see

https://tiresize.com/calculator/ for comparison

although I see the MT STs come in very limited sizes:

Personally mis-matched front/rear tires don’t bother me as long as the style matches

It is not. 235s it is.

Partially because I don’t want to go skinnier than stock. Foxbodies already have fairly weak brakes (Not necessarily dangerous, but at the same time definitely not the best) and the last thing I need is less contact patch lol.

It’s only half a centimeter wider on each side (approximately given that they can flex a bit), so not a huge deal either way. Though if you are already rubbing at lock maybe you’d want to go narrower?

215/60R15 and 215/65R15 are pretty close diameter wise (slightly closer than 235/60R15). 205/65R15 is an even closer match, but then you are talking about taking off nearly 10% of the width.

It only tends to rub in driveways I do believe. The car is rarely anywhere near full lock so I’m not 100% sure. Plus M/T only makes these tires in 235s, not 225s or 215s, which is the whole reason I’m going wider.
