My review?
Pffft
.
Not impressed with the awkward connector. Not impressed with the lack of documentation with the camera on how to use the awkward connector. Not impressed with the case I bought that the camera doesn’t actually fit properly. Not impressed with a No-IR filter camera that can’t see a 98º human face in the dark, but that’s just bad expectations management on my part.
I’d also managed to forget how awkward Linux is as a desktop platform. Apple has me so spoiled (although, in fairness, I’m sure Raspbian isn’t the most sophisticated Linux desktop around).
That’s all. Thanks for letting me ramble. G’night all, I shan’t be seeing any of you sneak up on me with this crappy camera (at least until I buy an IR illuminator, which, nah).

Kinda hard to make a ~
$40 single-board computer for tinkerers reach the same
level of hand-holding and sheltering as
the Apple ecosystem, though.

While I have a few of the raspberry pi cameras I don’t use them for much. they’re great at a few things, small form factor and specific focus but other than that I use USB web cams for almost everything on my raspberry pi. They’re hard to find now but usually sub-$20 and better in most ways.

As somebody who uses Linux Mint 19.3 MATE daily on his laptop (and Windows 10 on his desktop), I’d just like to say that Raspbian is pretty crude by a lot of modern Linux desktop standards.
My current setup:
