Float plane edition. My lake by the house has always been popular with float planes but with no boaters out they’ve been hitting it hard. These 2 were doing touch and goes for over an hour yesterday
Waved a t one of em and even got a wing wag back. Pretty cool made my day. T he pics doesn’t really show how low they are.

Something about float planes is so romantic. Landing on a lake sounds like a great way to start a vacation.

Living the dream! A friend of mine has a Kitfox on floats. I’ve been dying to go visit him and take a ride in it.

Very cool!! I’m curious what the lake is like today- glassy or very small waves?
Glass requires a pretty different landing procedure, generally.

Very small waves. 6 in to a foot.
There used to be a first generation piper cub that lived on the lake. I’ve seen him land in 2 to 3 foot waves. Looked like a rock skipping across the lake. He must of gave it up, haven’t seen it in years.

Somewhere I’ve got a picture of it, but my first small airplane ride as a kid was in a Cessna on floats, up in northern Wisconsin. Same holds true for my dad - he has pictures, too, and his ride was in a yellow Cub on floats up there. Fun times!
