For my responsible firearm neighbors in CA, the mandatory background check to buy ammo, has been granted unconstitutional by a federal judge.

I see California’s attempt at Chris Rock’s bullet control isn’t going through....

As a Canadian I need a permit to buy a gun and/or ammo anyway so this doesn’t upset me one way or the other.
The pro/anti gun arguments in the USA just go in circles and nothing gets done. I think guns are so engrained in the culture that it’s far beyond any gun control measures at this point.

Posdnuos said it best: Gun control means using both hands in my lands

As a Canadian who has a gun, I’m shocked that you don’t need a license to buy ammo in the states. That’s nuts.

interesting - hung the ruling on the out of state vendor and gun owner issues.

I need to send my paperwork, I did both the restricted/non-restricted courses but I figured I’d wait until this COVID thing blows over. I don’t even know if those offices are open and processing applications.
The courses are hilariously easy, too. It’s funny how much stuff I knew already just from playing video games.
I
t also seemed like the instructors were very pro-gun (which isn’t surprising)
and
wanted
all of us to pass. Frankly, I saw it as a very low barrier to entry, but if you can’t pass this you really,
really
shouldn’t be a firearm owner.
There are certain restrictions in Canada that don’t really make sense to me, like the fact that S&W M&P rifles are restricted even though there are tons of semi-auto, centrefire rifles you can buy that are non-restricted. It’s also too bad that I’ll never be able to own certain guns, like the H&K MP5 which I think is cool as fuck.

Send the paperwork in now. Might as well, so that there isn't a delay once this is all over. You wouldn't believe the number of people who have guns and say "but I just need to send in my paperwork". Fun fact: not a legal excuse.
And unfortunately some restrictions are because some guns look scary/can be modified more easily. Mostly it's due to barrel length and overall length.

Oh yeah, I don’t actually have any firearms. I did the course on a whim since because why not?
I guess you’re right about sending the paperwork anyway.
