I'm so bored that I've been exercising

Sigh, thanks for reminding me I need to get serious about that again. Unfortunately right now exercising means jogging in place (not even a treadmill) or pushups. Borrrrring.

Although I have discovered if I play fun music I want to dance to, jogging around the room gets more interesting.

Imagine finishing that and discover that you only have 51,299 pieces.

Also, the way that guy in the video sorted the pieces is high-level OCD. I’m not sure how else you’d solve it, but still.

It took me two years but I once put together an 8,000 piece puzzle. I don’t even want to imagine 53,000

So bored. The worst kind of bored. Bored because I am struggling to make progress on my current work project so it’s not like I can go do something else because I need to keep working but I am straight up out of ideas.

Honestly I’m grateful that I am in a profession that lets me do a lot ( not all) of my normal work remotely, but WFH has been exhausting.

And I’m not even supposed to be able to drive for fun, which is my primary stress outlet.

Man I’m bored but not once have I thought about doing a puzzle ha!

Now one of those expensive GT3 Lego kits is tempting if they weren’t so damn expensive.

Bored? What’s that? My role has moved to temporarily remote and is busier than ever. My 19-month-old daughter’s school is closed, so she’s home as well. Juggling a full-time job and full-time childcare is anything but boring .

0 bored. I’m essential and the nature of my work doesn’t allow for WFH, so I’m still coming into the office every day.

The only bad thing is I’m injured and will eventually need surgery, but I don’t want to go to a hospital, so I just have to take it easy until things settle down. That in turn limits me from more strenuous things, like a lot of major car or house work, though I can still do simple things like oil changes, S vending, etc.

Also I would die from that puzzle. I have a problem with puzzles, when I start one it consumes me. I’d probably die of dehydration or starvation if I attempted a 53k piece puzzle.

$600 for a puzzle? For $25, I will send you a bag of shredded documents that you can put back together. I will even cover the mailing costs.

I have actually thought about buying the Lego Millennium Falcon.

Kinja'd!!!

7,541 pieces. 33" long when completed. However, it is $700+ to buy, and I haven’t built anything in Lego in about 25 years.

Really? Got any pictures? This thing was absolutely massive and with the occasional month or so break from working on it it took me a little over a year and a half to comp lete it. Fortunately I had a room with a lot of empty floor space.

Yesterday I got so bored that I just started writing random backstories for interesting cars on my local Craigslist. It was surprisingly fun, even though nobody read that post... I’m also trying to write more of my book, and I’m attempting to recreate a BMW Isetta in Lego.

One might say that’s dang-near impossible, but that’s what makes it a good quarantine project.

I’ve been thinking I should define and start proselytizing a “long form” tag to slap on any original content over a certain length.

I bought one of these a few years back, had fun assembling it, gave me an excuse to buy a few more toys like a magnifying lens setup since my old eyes weren’t sufficient.

A few hours of work, and much much cheaper.

A bunch of us worked on it at my mother in law’s house a few years ago. No pictures, but I definitely recognized it when I saw it. My son have done a few puzzles the past few weeks...we worked up from a 500 piece, to 750, to 1000. We have a 2000 piece left to put together, but I think I need a bit of a break!

I do have a handful of the Metal Earth models, and they certainly are much easier, all things considered.

My other thought was the Saturn V rocket that Lego makes. Also much cheaper than the MF if you can find one.

Embiggening is definitely underutilized, although I’d hate to see it go the other direction too. What’s the correlation to desktop use?

Yeah I took several long breaks from it, stretching the time to nearly two years. Did he actually complete it? Because I doubt even a tenth of buyers actually finish it. That is a seriously difficult puzzle. You can tell him some internet rando did to motivate him.

I also did it solo

My parent’s like puzzles , so they’re a frequent gift I give to them.  I once gave them a 10,000 piece puzzle.  A few months later I was informed there is a 3,000 piece limit on puzzles given as a gift.
