Kinja'd!!!2 Kinja'd!!! 15

Yesterday was rough. A stressful day “at work” while home all day with the kids. It was howling, roaring wind all day with snow squalls on and off, a high of 35F. I didn’t feel great either. One of the worst days of WFH / home schooling thus far.

Kinja'd!!!

I got a good night’s rest and “slept in” until 6:45, my wife’s working from home today, too, and on top of that, it’s perfectly clear and sunny out. It’s supposed to be ~50F later and I worked so much yesterday that I’m going to take some time to work on my boat later.

Waking up to this really helped my mood, too:

You can’t see from the big pic but the distant higher mountains have snow on them:

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

The white spot on the left is Mt. Moosilauke, which is 4,802' elevation - pretty high for New England. And it’s very white again, along with Mt. Blue (~4,500') to the north and east (right) of it.

I need to cut a few more trees for an unobstructed view that way. That’s a great stress reliever, speaking of - cutting down 50' tall trees and processing them by hand (with a chain saw, but no other equipment). Hard work and really satisfying.

Happy ... err.. Thursday!

I thought the tilde was a minus sign and you were expecting minus 50 temperatures. I need some  coffee.

Hard work and really satisfying.

It really is. I still have 4-5 dead/dying ash trees (emerald a sh borer) to cut down but those will probably be left until fall this year.

In the meantime I’ve been slowly clearing out the under story in our woods. We have soo many buckthorn trees.

My productivity  has fallen considerably since I started working from home...

well part of my job is in-person high-level IT support - when the basic support guys can’t figure it out, I go and solve it. Well that’s hard to do remotely. So I’m doing... other stuff... but it’s not the same.

oh god help me if it was minus 50 in April, or ever, really. We see minus 25, at times. In January.

Buckthorn sounds like fun (nope) - we’ve been clearing out small stuff to make trails, now we have many brush piles. So many of the trees I’ve cut have been 50' tall with almost no branches, that it’s easy and they don’t make a lot of brush individually. The last few actually have branches, so they’ll be more work. My neighbor bought a chipper, I might try to use that a bit.

Emerald ash borer really is a huge problem, really sad.

Hey, I had my worst day yesterday too! I screamed at the dogs so lout my voice hurts and in doing so I terrified my daughter. Then I stayed up all night beating myself up for being such a stupid angry asshole. Cheers!

oh, man. I hear ya. When I’ve raised my voice at the kids, I’ve almost immediately felt terrible after and when the dust settles, I give them hugs with my tail between my legs so to speak. I cried yesterday after yelling at my son who was just rolling on the floor screaming for no reason whatsoever.

So yeah, cheers.

I’m going to get on my bike again today even if it’s for 20 minutes of lapping my own trails. That’s a huge stress reliever that’s easy to do.

Happy Thursday!  Did you get you carb sorted?

oh yeah that! Ugh, no, not really. I think it’s been 2 weeks since I’ve been over to the truck.

sit/rep

- took off carb, cleaned, checked float, all looks okay

- tried to start again, no more fuel leaked out the vent or whatever, but it still didn’t run

- checked for spark by holding a spark plug out of engine against ground, but didn’t see spark. Not convinced this is conclusive. Replaced spark plugs while I was at it

- bought a new coil, points & condenser, inline spark tester - hope to get over this weekend to check for spark, test for power at coil, go from there.

basically I thought it couldn’t be spark because it ran fine at first, but now I am thinking maybe the coil or the condenser or something just decided it was done.

Probably all good stuff to change anyway.  I think that carb has a sight glass to adjust the float height....something else to look at after you get the new sparky stuff installed.

I looked for that sight glass, and there’s a screw in that spot. I did download the manual and read through it. Someone could have put a screw in the place of that glass maybe? Not sure.

Yah I’ve not been running because the weather has been just so shitty. Getting out for a ride on Saturday I hope

Either the glass is behind it or you unscrew the plug and screw in the glass during tuning....can’t remember
