To be honest, there’s not much reason for that level of detail. Most users don’t need those schematics, they just need to know the maintenance schedule, and how the car reports errors . For the few who do need that detail, they need more detail than is provided. So mainly it just looks cool (which is fine, and reason enough to include it, but that’s a design decision rather than a sign that owners manuals are lacking (there are other signs of that).

Fintail is pretty similar, I think,   The transmission has its own manual with a lot of technical data and diagrams.  A German thing, no doubt.

I think my Thunderbird’s manual mostly just talks a lot about how magnificent and refined the Thunderbird is, and how if you own a Thunderbird, you have transcended the level of ordinary human being and have achieved the mystical level of “Thunderbird P erson”. I kept laughing while reading it, because I already bought the car! You don’t need to keep advertising it to me! Fun fact: The Thunderbird manual never uses the word “drive”. Instead, it uses the word “Thunderbird”. As a verb. As in “I’m going to Thunderbird to the theater and watch an opera, ” or “I Thunderbirded to the store to buy some caviar es cargot wine,” or “That old man is Thunderbirding erratically, someone should take away his license!”

“That old man is Thunderbirding erratically, someone should take away his license!” Is there any other way of Thunderbirding?

Is yours from 1967 as well? I’m guessing that they didn’t change the design very often.

Reminds me of how MINI really tried to make Motoring™ a thing. You didn’t take an aimless drive around back roads in your MINI, you went Motoring™ in the country.
