This is my first post from a phone. If it works, you’re all in trouble.
Also a car.

I bought myself some scotch tonight! I tried a sip of this glorious stuff back in February and fell in love! So with it being my birthday this week and getting some extra stimulus check cash...I pulled the trigger on the most expensive bottle of booze I’ve ever bought.
Cheers!!

So, was this more or less than $50 a bottle?

Definitely an acquired taste, so I can understand that.

Cheers, fellow birthday boy! That is my family’s favorite scotch, too.

When I was in London for a meeting, my crew decided one night to go the bar and try a brace of scotches. They serve it with a carafe of water to cut the intensity some. It’s a spirit that you really have to pay attention to and appreciate the complex flavors. At least the good stuff. If you buy the cheap shit, you just want to get drunk anyway. :)
But it’s not for some people.

Remember that drunken late night shitposting is an Oppo tradition. We do have an H our R ule to uphold, after all.

So even when I was a big drinker, I didn’t drink scotch. Until one night my best friends father took me along with the family to see The Rolling Stones to the tune of $700. His son and I would normally get blackout on a bottle of Jameson, but wherever we were only had scotch. Johnny Walker...red ... which has to be the bottom shelf from JW as I’ve had blue and it’s pretty good.
Annnnyway, I kind of remember “start me up” I passed out in my seat through the entire concert, peanuts and popcorn all over me, beer in hand. DEAD
Not my best moment

Good story!

I remember one place I worked at 24 years ago, before I was into good scotch. The company was in its death throes, with the two owners willing to let the whole place, nationwide, go out of business and throwing hundreds out of work rather than work out their dispute. With no other companies or airlines willing to work with us we just sat on the edge of the dock, staring out into the parking lot, passing a bottle around. No glasses, no ice - just take a swig and pass it over. After three days of this I just stopped going to work, as did most of my co-workers.

Something great came out of it, however. Before the company went under I was planning on transferring down to the IT department in the corporate headquarters. One of the guys in that department managed to track me down from his new employer and hired me on, and I went to work with him at Hughes Aircraft Company, one of the best jobs I ever had.
