The rod that goes from the carburetor to the pedal broke apart. We’ve welded it before, because you can’t get a new one. So, that said, should I just go to a cable?

Man, that sucks. It rem inds me of the time I had to fix an aluminum triangle that holds the left windshield wiper on my Th underbird... What happened is that a previous owner had the car repainted, and whoever repainted it did a crappy job. Among other things, they neglected to mask the wiper spindles, so those got paint all over them, which, of course, made it very difficult to put the wipers back on. Their solution? Hammer time! The internal triangular aluminum bracket that holds the wiper spindle in place was never meant to withstand such a blow, and broke in half upon impact, causing the wiper to not work properly. You’d have to be an idiot to actually break that thing, so nobody makes a replacement for it. Therefore, our only option was to fix it ourselves with a bit of JB Weld and a little piece of bent metal for extra strength.

Which rod? connecting what to what? I’m assuming pedal to throttle cable?

The rod that runs from the pedal to the carb. I think it might be like 2 or 3 rods all connected, but one of them broke apart basically. They don’t reproduce them, either.

Ever thought of having a new one made? A good machine shop should be able to replicate it if it isn’t too complex.

Hmm, that could be a possibility...
I’m really not sure of what to do. May just weld it... again. Maybe modify it to bolt together.

best to go cable if the original rod is no longer available.
