Our local folks here have set up a Friday night cruise in Kalispell Montana. From all outward appearances it appears to be a bunch of people who want to get out of their houses and drive around. Everybody is feeling the cabin fever right now. The flip side is that they are absolutely not practicing social distancing and also doing stupid things in their cars like Mustangs doing burnouts.
I’m conflicted, I support doing car things but I don’t support people making bad choices with their vehicles. I was thinking of taking the Datsun down there this Friday but frankly it doesn’t really appeal to me . I’d rather take a nice drive on a deserted county road to the grocery store in the next town over.

Ugh... I like classic custom cars, but I hate all of the “Kool Kustom Klassic Kruise” Krap. Kut it out. Konstant, kompletely unnecessary overuse of “K” is kringeworthy! Kan someone please tell these people that this has been going on long enough? The Kars are sweet, but the whole “K” thing is unoriginal and unkool. It doesn’t need to kontinue. It doesn’t kontribute anything to the kulture, and it needs to die.

True distancing is by nature anti-social.

This is how we end up with a ban on all non-essential driving and over-enforcement by police of any car in a bright color or with a loud exhaust or anything else fun. Stupid people I tell ya! This weekend people were doing burnouts on my street since its out in the sticks. While I dont mind it and appreciate the loud noises and I would gladly have a burnt tire scented candle if I could find one, that is how you attract the wrong sort of attention to an area! And yeah the car groups going to Neptunes net to hang out all together like its normal is a problem. You want to go drive? Good, do it by your damn self or maybe with 2-3 others and be nondescript about it and keep your damn distance. I also see big groups on the weekend going canyon carving and I just shake my head.

I found out yesterday
a) there is a couple hundred strong local street racing scene
b) who have taken to commandeering a local stretch of road
c) and parking up in local businesses which resulted in a local cop getting run over last Summer by someone evading attempts to seal the exits from
d) given existence of a, b, and c. Behaviors pursuant to the non-essential act of street racing during a pandemic two nights previously were not taken lightly however politely it was expressed in the news
e) LEO arrival on the scene in the middle of the night prompted a rash of “social distancing” and decisions to “shelter at home” to aid emergency services ability to take on the added workload of Covid-19 cases.

This kind of behavior really turns me off.

The thing is that in Montana the only real consequence of Corona is the economy has taken a huge shit. There really are not that many people getting sick. Our hospitals are deserted and have had to lay off staff due to no business. So the good ol’ red necks are like why the hell are we doing these things if there’s no Rona in our neck of the woods? They kind of have a point, as long as the out-of-stater’s don’t bring in some Rona.

Probably your best bet is to get the name of the town changed to “ Calispell.” Good luck, I don’t think people will go for the west coast connotations that’ll bring up.
