As with most of my cooks, I’ve forgotten to photograph the results. Leftovers are chilling in the fridge now.
Made this:
except I didn’t make any garlic bread.
I always feel that my meatless dishes (chicken bouillon cube doesn’t count) are really lacking but I got full on this one before I thought that this recipe could be better with some bacon or sausage.
Normally I make tomato based sauces but I get why people like cream sauce. The tarragon adds a nice scent and flavour that makes the pasta easy to eat - despite all the cream and carbs it doesn’t feel too stodgy. Used a 1/2lb of button mushrooms and a whole trimmed leek. I did add a 1/2 teaspoon of dried chili flakes with the garlic.
Finally, I used farfalle pasta since that’s what I had. I think I reduced the sauce too much, it doesn’t have the same consistency as the video. Still, tasted really nice.

I may have to start taking on some different sauces even though I hate cooking. I have a couple of dishes that I make and my spaghetti is the preferred recipe in the house (my wife really hates that). But we were trying to do some meal planning to put together the next grocery list as we realized that we are eating the same things over and over again. Not that it’s a bad thing, but we are used to a bit more variety since the kids used to eat lunch at school and I would go out for lunch at work. Now everyone is getting tired of the same meals.
Maybe I’ll just forward the video to my wife and see if she’ll make it. :)

I made a tagliatelle pasta with butter and egg sauce this evening. I used a Martha Stewart recipe I found, but added mushrooms (button mushrooms saute’d in butter) and since I had no fresh herbs or chives, green onions and dried parsley had to suffice. Generally good reaction from the family. Fresh wok fried broccoli and leftover Easter ham (for my meat eater son) on the side.

Ramsay has a whole home cooking series on his Youtube channel, which is where this recipe comes from - the TV show was Ultimate Cookery Course in the UK.
I’ve tried out several of his recipes from that series and have been very happy with the results.

I love fresh herbs, but I hate it when recipes call for them because it means that I have to go to the grocer and spend too much money on too little herbs which spoil too quickly. That said, I’m very happy that I didn’t skip the tarragon in this dish - I’d never cooked with it before and it’s neat.
I live in a condo building but I’m looking into growing some more robust herbs on my windowsill since I get decent light exposure through the day.

I watched him on The Hot Ones. Dude could hold his own against a sailor. Not creative, but prolific.
