It’s called Scenic Highway. There used to be one house at the very end of it, but after the owner died the city bought the property and gated the road off. The road was originally going to go further years ago, along with several other roads, but the city decided to keep a large portion of Capitol Hill as parkland. The name comes from the original 1930s plan for a scenic road along the north coast of Burnaby, which never happened. There is however now a trail system that goes most of the way where the scenic highway would have gone.
End of the road
Here’s some views from the $2.5mil or so properties on the northeast side of the hill.
And then back up across the hill heading back home
About an 8.5km walk. It was a nice one, good to wander through an area I haven’t before.

A lmost made it that far last week. I started at P arall e l 49, took the trail and ended up under Confederation Park (down by the rope to get down the bank ) . 7.8 km each way.
Right before I left I looked for your reply from way back with instructions on how to get down to that cove. I’ve since reinstalled Windows and lost some in the shuffle. I couldn’t find it. Sorry, h ow do you do that again?
Only took one pic. ¯\_()_/¯

I’m told it used to be for car shenanigans, but no longer since it’s gated off.

This one?
Where I left the end point is roughly where the new path down to the beach is. I think the old one is blocked off now but I’m not sure. It’s pretty steep, but doable. Is that the one you wound up at, or the one I told you how to get to?

Both the one you told me about and the one I ended up at. Ha! I couldn’t go down the rope in my footware . Too steep. Maybe next time.
