"HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles" (hondasfordsvolvo)

So today I committed to building my back yard trail, well we decided to do a simple oval pump track for now. It will have two nine foot radius banked turns and 6 3x3x8’ rollers on each side, with maybe some skinnies in the middle making an X. Anyway. This happened today.
I haven’t bought any dirt yet, but started taking some from the yard. Thankfully clay is plentiful here. Scraping the sod off the top is the worst part. Also the kid found this. It’s an old odd chick of iron, he’s very proud.
In other news I bought my first wheelbarrow today, and during that process I learned that it’s not called a wheel barrEL. I always thought it was like a barrel on wheels...
also also my kid grew into size 3 shoes and now we have matching Chucks.

I can’t let this pass without comment, but I’ve sworn off comments that would impact your decision making.

It is now mostly functional. They need to get taller still. Right before this video I hit a soft spot on the top and eat it. I’m not sharing that video because there is a significant amount of buttckrack.

I don’t have any pics right now. But I was told that a house burnt down in the 50s or 60s where my yard is, so probably something from in the house.

I want to get it build an electric mini bike someday. It would be a blast on this.

M y input shouldn’t matter on an idea you came up with and are building to your own design.

In that case I’ll ask a few questions:
Why is the berm so far away from the fence?
How much bought and delivered dirt are you talking about here?
Who is this really for, you or your son?
How long do you expect to keep this, how long will it be fun for the two of you?

1 there is a door in that corner that I didn’t want to block access to . And I didn’t want to butt it right up to the walls so that if someone crashes they have a bit of wiggle room before they come in contact with the fence. I left 10 ft on the west side because it’s the side with the door. , and 3 in the South.
I’m thinking we’ll need 12-15 yard since wash roller will need Roughy 24sq/ft of dirt, so probably a bit more than a yard in reality.
Both, and my other friends that ride.
Hopefully it’ll be fun for years to come. It’ll need maintenance but that’s part of the fun! I also expect it to change over time, we’re just starting with the most basic pump tract because we don’t really know what we’re doing.

Honestly, this doesn’t work. Go do some middle of the night shoveling in an empty field with a mellow sixer and some friends.
Your idea needs some revision. In spirit it’s perfect. Mom and Dad are putting a lot of cool things into place. Leaving room for dicking around back there doing all the other fun things that have and will happen in the future just strikes me as the better choice. I’d advise not going full bore at this backyard pump track until you have 40 acres to play with.
