This is how we do things. Coffee pot broke this morning.
We decided to replace our shirts old coffee maker. My wife says, “Let’s take the Fiat.” I say “We would have to wait while it warms up.” She says “Who cares?” I say “Are you driving?” (I gave the car to her as a gift) She says “Of course.”
Problem solved. Make this woman President. Meanwhile, Toby is focused on breakfast.

I like big bumpers and I can not lie.

I loved the monster bumpers on my old E21 320i. A little tap with those things didn't threaten to total the car. They came in quite handy when I had to ram a lunatic on the freeway ages ago...

About 25 years ago a guy in a ratty GTI came flying out of nowhere and almost hits me. I had to move left of the #1 lane to avoid a collision. He freaked out for some reason, and went around me then proceeded to do the repeated ‘brake check’ routine. He kept doing this until we were stopped, in the fast lane of a SoCal freeway, with traffic whizzing by on our right at 70+ MPH.
At one point I saw his passenger reach into the back of the car and grab what appeared to be a pistol. No way in hell am I getting next to him. We start moving and then slams on his brakes again. Over and over.
We’re coming up on a another freeway, and I know that the transition is on the left side. He starts doing the brake check again and so I ram him. Be careful what you ask for - you may just get it. I see him and his passenger fly forward, probably unbelted. He does the BC a few more times and I ram him again. And again. At the last second, I dart off to the other freeway to safety.
I eventually got off the freeway to get my pulse down and check for damage to my car, but I can’t find any evidence of the incident. I didn’t want to resort to such anti-social behavior on the roads, but sometimes you’re forced to out-crazy the crazies...

That’s insane. Glad you were able to get out of there safely.
A very different sort of drama, but this was my long-ago story about risking death on the highway.

My son broke the carafe for my French press last night . I had to fire up the Keurig this morning.
I went out to pick up prescriptions yesterday. I was the only customer wearing a mask. One of the clerks and one of the pharmacy techs were wearing their masks incorrectly. This does not bode well for long term recovery. I suspect that with the recent talk of reopening, we will see a surge of new cases in a few weeks.

I suspect at some point most of the states are going to require masks, and that will not go down well.

You’re right. It’s like any safety requirement - if you aren’t wearing it, when you need it you won’t have it.

After reading that, I realized you and I g raduated the same year. I even have a similar story, but mine doesn’t have cops and the girl wasn’t a hooker (as far as I know ).

The last time I was at Costco, around a month ago, I found that they had wisely removed the communal coffee grinders. The problem of course was that I had just purchased 4 large bags of coffee and had no practical way to grind them. I mix dark roast with Vanilla Hazelnut and our fairly expensive grinder not only wouldn’t easily accommodate that, it also wouldn’t go fine enough for my liking. Plus it was missing it’s top burr, rendering it pretty much worthless.
So I picked up this bad boy, because this is how we do things:
Holds 11 lbs of beans
and compliments my coffee maker pretty well I think.

I’ve told it a couple of times, but never in a standalone post.
I was working the graveyard shift at a chemical plant. My route home was fairly rural and took me along a highway which was the way to get to one of the remote public beaches in the area. At the intersection where you would turn toward the beach, a girl stepped into the road ahead of me. She was wearing a skimpy red top, a black leather skirt, and high heels. Certainly not beach attire and definitely not something to be wearing at 7:3 0 in the morning. As I got closer, I could see by her smeared makeup she had been crying.
Assuming her car had broken down (although there was no car to be seen) , I stopped to help.
Her story was typical in some respects, not so typical in others. She had been out clubbing in Houston with a friend who was her ride. She said she lost track of the friend and couldn’t find her. When the club shut down, she stood at the entrance, hoping to find her friend on the way out. No friend appeared, but a guy offered her a ride home.
Instead of taking her home, he decided to take her to the beach. A rural beach. This is where things start to get really flaky.
She said that he pulled off the road and tried to rape her. Sure, there were places to pull off where I found her, but if he was taking her to the beach, why would he stop a couple of miles short? She said she fought him off (there was no evidence of her being hit) and she said she jumped out of the car (with her clothes intact and her purse in hand). After that, he apparently decided that was enough and left her there.
I suggested a trip to the police station so she could report him. She didn’t want any part of that. So, I suggested taking her to a phone booth so she could call for a ride. She didn’t have any money for that and wasn’t willing to make a collect call. So, I decided to take her to my Aunt’s house where my Aunt could help me deal with this.
After getting cleaned up, the girl made a call to someone in Houston. She was told that since she got herself into this mess, she had to figure out how to get herself out. I heard her side of the conversation, so I know that part is true. She said she had no other options and asked for my help.
Being young and dumb and susceptible to a pretty girl did me in. I ended up driving her back to Houston, about an hour away from where I lived. While she did thank me, s he didn’t offer to pay for my gas. I considered it my good deed for the year and made the long drive home so I could get some sleep before my next shift.

Weird. Yeah, I definitely know the feeling of being helpless around a pretty girl.

I, too, broke the carafe for our coffeemaker recently. Odd, the damage looks very similar. After a quick look at Target - could buy a new coffeemaker but not a new carafe - ordered it from Amazon. This was 9:30 or so on Thursday night. They said it’d be delivered Saturday - no worries, we have options.
Friends, we heard a “thump” about 4am on the front porch. It was the new carafe, delivered more than a day early.
I think Amazon and Starbucks aggregate data and see how quickly we go through coffee beans in this house, and realized this was an essential purchase. I kid, of course, but was pleased that it showed up so quickly.

Nice Fiat. My uncle had one when I was a young teenager. 30 mph felt like flying, we were so close to the ground.
