Funny, everybody writes it off, but the pace of innovation at the chemistry-and-physics level is much, much faster than batteries.
They’ve already shown (lab) Direct- PV-to-hydrogen conversion efficiencies in the lab in the mid 40 % range.
It just solves so many basic, fundamental issues better (long-term) than batteries, it’s unlikely to die off completely, even as VC backed companies go down the battery rabbit hole.
And, this stuff is fascinating.

It reads like an advertorial for something akin to the F uel S hark(TM). I get really skeptical when someone claims “ou r secret sauce gives 20% improvement, but you need to just believe us that it works”.

It’s going to be fascinating to see this unfold. The thing the hydrogen-haters always forget (as they cite a 10 year old sound bite from Elon) is that the next generation nuclear plants will produce almost unlimited amounts of hydrogen at very, very low cost. This is already being rolled out on current Light H20 reactors...

So, much of the “hydrogen is too inefficient to produce” stuff goes out the window, as it does with local production via Direct PV solar fields. Easily stored for later “off peak” usage and “burns” to only water. It’s as clean a process as we can come up with.
I think Honda and Toyota see the long-term big picture pretty clearly.
