And it’s a wagon!
All that work and they couldn't spend a buck or two on a better shift knob...

I cheated an used Reverse-GIS. It appears to be a Mercedes Benz 280TE by Zender.

That almost looks like a ham radio stack in the center console.

reminds me a bit of the Vector interior too with the controls in the seat bolsters and the shear number of buttons

More info and some good pics there. It’s wild, to say the least.

I didn’t think anyone could be tackier than Mansory or Mitsuoka, but there you go.

I can’t remember who made it, but it’s a Mercedes Benz 300TE, an S123 from a generation when these things were built like tanks. I’ll post more info if I ever find it...

The seats are the classic Recaro IdealSitz C. I’m partial to this version, and would love to have a set in something appropriately ‘70s/’80s:

That’s probably my favorite part. I love ‘80s stereos and still have a couple of vintage Blaupunkt units, one still NIB.

I’d say they are in contention for the title, definitely.

Which Blaupunkt is it? I’m sort of on the hunt for one to put in my 240.

Are you asking about the stereo in that car or the stereos that I have? The one in that case is a Uher Hifi-miniset. The ones that I have are both just AM/FM units. The first is a Frankfurt from the mid to late ‘80s. It’s labeled as a VW SC89 (I think), but you know it’s a Frankfurt. I used to use it as a home stereo and have never installed it on a car.
The other one, the one still in the box, is a Dallas SQM88, the seriously-cool gooseneck/stalk radio. I think it even does AM stereo, although I don’t know if anyone still broadcasts in that format. I’m keeping this one for the appropriate ‘80s car build. I’ve had it for over 20 years now, and some day the time will be right to actually use it.

You couldn’t do cocaine IN that car. There’s no hiding it. The hood, rood trunk sure. But inside... madness. Plus you gotta keep that white on white leisure suit clean man.

That’s cool!
My 240 is going to need a ton of work, a lot just to get it back to good. But eventually I’d like to turn it into a nice touring car - upgraded brakes and suspension, nice wheels, more power, and re-do the interior including nice seats, dynamat the thing to cut down road nosie, and put a nice stereo in it. But I want to keep the 80's vibe, so I’m looking for period stuff.
Then again, Blaupunkt recently released a new version of the “Bremen” - it looks very similar to the old one but features Bluetooth, Smart phone integration, etc. So I may go for something like that. I don’t know yet.

I really wonder about the quality of the new Blaupunkt stuff. Way back when they were a mark of quality, but ever since Bosch sold them off a few years back they seem to have become generic Chinese garbage. The added features seem nice, but I’d almost rather have an old stereo with an aux input via the antenna connection. While not audiophile quality, I found that solution to be more than sufficient in my old E34, and probably didn’t sound any worse than a modern “Blaupunkt”.

Oh, man, that is now ringing some “ancient bell” for me of the designer who loved the “aircraft radios and instrument look” and did an interior based on that concept...
I actually really LIKE the radio and HVAC stack.

That isn’t a quadrophonic sound system , is it? I see four VU meters!

I think it’s a couple of VU meters on the tape deck and then tuning and signal strength on the tuner.
I’d never heard of this stereo manufacturer before but now I MUST HAVE IT!
