Kinja'd!!!

Photo from 2012, London, Canon G10 (LOVE that camera forever, was also used for the underwater photos).

I don’t know what to do with all the stuff that I’ve done, worked on, worked with people on, just to make the best possible case for the things we know so much about, care about, and want the world to be. Or just to make the most amazing image, print, painting that someone could see.

I worried about this stuff back in 2008-9.

The pictures, time, effort, everything, that we do, for *whatever* just because   we’re that good is something that we’ve always just done. I’d say that it’s fun, because it is.

Kinja'd!!!

Was.

I have a web name since 2010 for photo stuff, I would like to have a good reason to make it a thing. The name is: Some True Stories. It’s an empty site, for the last decade.

Here’s a sketch from 2012.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

And for a respite, here’s the bark of a redwood.

Kinja'd!!!

I honestly don’t know what to do. Y’all feel free. Suggestions welcome.

Move on from the G series which hasn’t included either a top end “S” or fast (F 2.0-3.0) lens since the G6. For all the technical advancement in digital processing power etc. the actual pictures all G series since produce have lacked that special quality which was the sole reason for existing. Not to mention the just below pro level shutter rating and a slough of other features that made it a legitimate addition to a serious photographers arsenal.

Looking at just the selections from your portfolio provided. I t is clear your decisions were formed around the low points of the tool in your hands. Well aware the choice at that time was lug around a DSLR or confront the very issue I’m pointing at. There is no reason you could not pick this hobby back up with less limitations and enjoy yourself at the same time. By which I mean decide if you wish to spend time in post or setting up complicated equipment.

Eh, I have a 5D2 which has served me well for almost 10 years. I use adapted Leica glass on it most of the time. Post was kind of a love letter to the G10, but more about not knowing what the hell I’m doing these days, not really about wanting to be a photographer. That’s just shit I do for fun.

I get, though, that the point was muddled; it was late, I was exhausted, and a bit past my ethanol limit. Better to post than to drive.

Had a G10 for a number of years - I literally fell off a mountain, landed on it, and it still took another 10,000 images. Ended up giving it to my nephew who used it for vid projects until it finally gave up the ghost. I paid less than $400 new - made for a great, “take it anywhere” machine.

I’d say both points were quite clear. By showing you love is bitter sweet the hope was allowing you to see more clearly. Technically good, lifeless photo taking digital cameras are hard to escape. Quality film existing in large enough quantities or excellent processing facilities are in the past.

Maybe you should buy a G10. Maybe that ship has sailed back into the harbor while you stood there to greet it. Maybe you won’t push against those weaker boundaries in course of enjoyment anymore.

I’ll use my G10 until it’s dead, and hopefully someday I’ll get to take some more pictures underwater with it.

The graininess of it was always a big appeal, for me.

The quality of underwater case for it was amazing.  I do like your photographs even if I can’t look past the intentionally limited tool used.

Whoa, settle down. Critique was not offered as condescension .

Whatever the technical challenge is with Kinja it s not worth getting too upset.

Not upset, just the underwater images I tried to post didn’t. They were there in preview.  That’s all.
