It’s an F-100 Super Sabre, in Thunderbirds (Air Force stunt flying squad) livery:

What facw said. The F-100 was the first US fighter capable of supersonic speeds in level flight. .
BoxerFanatic, troublesome iconoclast.

F100 seems like the idiomatic “generic fighter jet. ” the silhouette icon for all straight-forward single-engine, single pilot, swept wing fighters.
No ble nded wing roots, no lifting body aspects , not even area rule, no variable geometry intakes, or variable-sweep wings... no delta wings, canards, or T-tails, or anything particularly unique. Just clean and simple, sleeker and sharper than the F-86 Sabre it succeeded.
The only thing odd, is that the intake at the nose is such an odd shape... it isn’t round, it isn’t really an oval, it is just kind of squashed, and looks almost irregularly hand-formed.

God, I love the Hun. Fo r those with Amazon Prime, Hun Pi lots is free to stream. Highly recommended, all about the guys who flew them in Vietnam. I don’t know if Thud Pilots is also free anywhere, but it is awesome.
My father was an F-4 pilot in the Air Force. He once told me a story about dogfighting with an F-100 ANG squadron, one of the F-100 guys called off the fight because he pulled 12Gs. T he ANG guy in charge flew around that plane, didn’t see anything broken and replied he’d done that dozens of times in combat and to fight on. Awesome, beautiful machine.

I was just reading the Wiki article about the Hun this morning. Aside from the well-documented Sabre dance, Huns had some significant structural issues and apparently crashed a lot.
Over the lifetime of its USAF service, a total of 889 F-100 aircraft were destroyed in accidents, involving the deaths of 324 pilots. The deadliest year for F-100 accidents was 1958, with 116 aircraft destroyed, and 47 pilots killed.

Good Morning from day 30 of our self isolation. This is getting surreal - this past weekend I found myself thinking this was all so insane it had to be some kind of fever dream then reminding myself it was actually happening.
At least I’m WFH so there is somewhat of a routine and some interaction and my Wife is excellent company in this but I’m starting to go a bit insane.

You should try it with three teenage boys in the house. This is the second week of online school, but getting them to focus on it is quite difficult. My wife, who supports our family, is WFH, which is good, since she is much more patient with the craziness than I am.

I am honestly quite happy right now that we don’t have any kids. Hell with just my Wife and me we’re alternating between driving each other nuts and compulsively wanting company.
Good luck with the teenagers - if you want some technology related topics for them to learn on (raspberry pi/coding/so on) I’d be happy to share some. They’ve got time now and if they’re even remotely interested it can turn into a solid career.

Interest is the problem. The younger ones (8th grade twins) spend all their free time playing Rainbow 6 with their friends. They show little to no interest in actually learning anything about computers. I can’t get them to read a book, either.

I can’t blame them for wanting to do that right now. My Switch has gotten more attention in the last month than in the year I owned it before this.

We’re having major Switch stress in our house, thanks to those bastards at Nintendo. We got a copy of Animal Crossing for my boys to play, without realizing that for them both to be able to play their own game they each have to have their own Switch and their own copy of the game. That’s a seriously shitty move by Nintendo.

That is definitely shitty! Over the last few years all the major players have gotten more and more restrictive to their licensing. It got easier for most of us to use so most didn’t really notice but sharing is a real pain now.
I have a bunch of friends that are playing Animal Crossing hard but I haven’t picked up a copy yet. Tempting to at this point for another distraction.
My most recent favorite game is a tower defense one. I’ll also admit that the retro emulators get more play time on it than most others...

I will say that I finally broke down and bought the Hori joy cons for my switch and I love them! I thought I’d miss the rumble but don’t and my hands are way more comfortable compared to the child sized stock joy cons.
