Yeah.
I paid my water bill today and emailed them, saying there is a sink hole by the sewer lid in my backyard. So they came out a pumped a bunch of water in the hole after a dye pack and none went into the sewer. None went to the other manhole, none ended up in the creek behind my neighbors house. They don’t know where it went. Suggested I get ahold of my HOA.
So that’s where I am at. Emailing a guy on the BOD of the HOA. Some of my neighbors may be getting letters because the trash cans aren’t on the side of the house. Here is to hoping for the best. Wish me luck.

In my AO sewer lateral lines are the homeowners responsibility. I have insurance that just covers my water and sewer lines. Every area is different and I don’t have an HOA.

Good luck! I dodged a big bullet a few weeks ago. My main water supply line was leaking, but thankfully it turned out to be just outside of where my responsibility ends.

This is actually about as far away from houses as can be. There is a triangle of properties and it’s in the furthest of the backyards. Possibly just settling after 16-17 years. Also probably drains to the creek behind the neighbors. But city water guys couldn’t find where 200 gallons drained to..... uhh what?

I think I’ll be on the hook for this. No laterals close, no water mains. It’s about as far away from houses as can be. I’ll draw a diagram tomorrow but I think the back fill finally settles after 16 years.
When you build houses over farmland it’s bound to have some f-Ed up dirt going places.

Alright, I’m also a dad, so I can call out your dad jokes and tell you to F- off.
But you got me.
Luckily 2 of my neighbors are in the same union and do manhole/ utility/ sewer work so this should not put me under.... I will survive this. The cop neighbor can not help me here.

Yeah I’ll have one of them bring a mini track hoe or something. Something where we don’t have to dig. But I think if is finally settling and going to the creek 200’ away it should be somewhere....
when talking with my laborer neighbor, he suggested just throwing trash in the hole, so I shot back, “ yeah, trash, recycling, my dog I don’t like, maybe some asbestos from work”
I won’t be paying for this like a Joe Schmo. I’ll be calling in some favors.
This is where I get all union laborer, and jokes gets REALLY DARK, and I just delete a Bunch of shit I just typed....
