Didn’t he have a reputation for being a douchy douchebag?

Part of me thinks that he turned into a pumpkin as soon as Williams did, but given how much he struggled in BAR-Honda, I guess his prime is shorter than I estimated .

Makes you think: of all the one-time champs, which one had the highest ceiling? I’m inclined to say Button, but feel like had Jacques been in BMW-Williams he’d have stolen another from Schumacher (nevermind the fact that BAR-Honda actually almost had a shot in 2004 and 2005).

Probably the man Jacques replaced: Damon Hill, who finished 2nd in WDC standings twice and came within a point of a second title.

He was fantastic in CART, did well once joining F1, but very quickly was unable to adapt to car that had many shortcomings.

Except for him being a WDC, I would compare him to a Ralf Schumacher. Both are very talented drivers, but neither are of the Legend status.

Yep, and on a freakin’ Arrows team that sucked balls at the turn of the millennium. It’d be interesting to see a timeline where Alonso and Damon’s fates swapped and it was Hill who signed his soul to Briatore in exchange (figuratively speaking) for a WDC or two .
