Kinja'd!!!

Venezuelan Patrol Ship with a 76mm Main Gun and air/missile defense system and various small arms vs a cruise ship.

The Venezuelan ship is at the bottom of the ocean.

Since the cruise ship was flying the Portuguese flag, this is Portugal’s first Naval victory in over two centuries...

I read about this the other day, and am still laughing. It’s not like the Naiguata was going to fire on a civilian ship, but still you’d think this would’ve ended differently.

I see maldonado has taken up ship piloting after retiring from F1. Too bad his usual tactics didn’t work this time.

I’d have laughed my ass off if the Resolute sailed into Williamstadt with a broom tied to her mast .

Some official from Venezuela is now claiming there were mercenaries on the cruise ship. Because, of course the are.

they fired some warning shots apparently .

and, from what i understand, then THEY rammed into the cruise ship to try and get her to change direction, and things went...poorly.

I was a huge fan of that show back in the day, haven’t seen much of it in maybe 30 years, but when I see it, it all comes back. I probably saw every episode a dozen times.

When your n avy’s 3rd largest surface ship can be obliterated by one of the tiniest cruise ships in the world

Nice. It’s like that scene from Top Gun where Maverick is “communicating” with the MiG pilot.

I’ve in creasingly been thinking Clive Cussler must be glad to see all his books gain relevance in his own lifetime.  There is a Juan Cabrillo vibe to this entire cruise ship sinking a military vessel ordeal.

Doesn’t help that the Resolute has a reinforced hull since she’s used for cruises in the Antarctic Ocean. What was it Doc Brown told Marty?

“Marty, he’s in a ‘46 Ford. We ’re in a DeLorean. He ’ d rip through us like we were tin foil .”
