Whoa. Must be a JLR thing... I have a first year, US version, Disco-I... also with a manual. Rare option, almost a unicorn. They dropped that option like a non-selling hot potato.

They brought the manual back in the early ‘80s with the introduction of the inline 6 to the model overseas . I believe we got the manual again in the early ‘90s.
The one in the video has a manual from a 6 cylinder model.

The manual was offered on the 6 cylinder cars overseas when they were introduced in the early ‘80s (prior, the XJS was V12 only). We got the manual with the 6 cylinder on the ‘90s models.

Thanks for the background. I absolutely had no idea-- assumed they all had the OEM slushbox Jaguar were using across the line back then
