Oh, man. I’m really missing asian food right now. Chicken Teriyaki, Pad Thai, c urry chicken.
I f there’s anyone who should update their websites with information on how they are handling COVID, it should be the restaurants. My wife is hesitant to order food since we have no idea how it’s been handled. On e worker not showing symptoms could have huge impacts on their customers.
I’ve received tons of emails from companies and societies (i.e. Louisiana Association of Dam Safety Professionals; ACEC) with whom I have contact only during meetings and conventions, all of which are currently canceled. Unfortunately, most of the local restaurants haven’t made the effort to update their websites with similar information, so we aren’t really interested in ordering from them.
It sucks.

I’ve ordered pizza, fried chicken, lebanese, pad thai, pho, all through delivery.
Time will tell if I’m infected but at the time these were good ideas.
I see that some people are wiping down their grocery bags, as well as the goods they’re buying (like wiping down cans and other packaging). I’ve been washing my hands well, but I can tell you I haven’t been wiping down everything I’ve bought, either.

If you trusted their food safety practices before, why should it be any different now? You’re not very likely to get a primarily respiratory ailment from food, but possibly from the containers if you don’t wash your hands and then eat with them or something. Wash your hands after opening the containers and serving food into your own dishes, and enjoy. Those small businesses need you more now than ever.

Are those scoops of rice under all that? Man, I love a good helping of rice with just about anything.

Yep. As boring as this sounds, my favorite culinary aspect of Tokyo was getting a side of rice with literally everything

As you say, it’s not the food, it’s the containers that are the primary concern. Sure, we can wipe down the containers when they get here, but i t’s impossible to disinfect the inside of the container where they deposit the food without getting disinfectant on the food . If it were, I could convince my wife to order out. I thought a pass through the microwave would make it safe, but she’s not convinced.
While early evidence suggests these are unlikely modes of transfer, as they learn more about the virus, they are finding modes of transmission that they thought couldn’t happen before. We will err on the side of caution until we know for certain.

It will be interesting to see how personal practices affect transmission rates. I’m sure everyone is going to get it eventually, it’s just a matter of when. Maybe we should start an Oppo COVID pool. The last person to get it wins.

Given the amounts of testing going on, I’m sure there will be a fair amount of us who have it (or have had it) but are asymptomatic. Apart from washing my hands, I do feel helpless because I really just have to keep my fingers crossed that I’m one of the asymptomatic or mildly affected people (if I get it at all, that is) . It’s crazy that the effect ranges from nothing to death by suffocation .

I'm trying to make an effort to funnel my food money into the places that I don't want to see shut down. This teriyaki shop is #1 on the list.

Yep! No veggies (I steam some at home) and extra teriyaki sauce on the rice.
