I’m home all of April at least. I can only do so much car stuff with my limited resources. These van’s brakes are becoming a headache (I’ll post about that later). I’m trying not to binge play video games. I take a walk with the dog, and get some exercise in. My week-long challenge was a success, albeit took a toll on my body. When it warms up, I can get out in the yard a little more. Still am running out of things to do. So I started thinking of outlandish things I can do at home.
So what do I do? I cut a mullet of course.
Racing stripes TBD
I’ve always wanted to rock a mullet, but never felt like I had the authority to do so in a corporate environment. My fully supportive fiance did plentiful research (60 minutes of Googling) on how to cut it. I haven’t had a backyard haircut since I was a kid. Cleaned off with the leaf blower afterwards.
Any of you friends do anything out of the ordinary?

I had a mullet way back in the day. This is wedding day 1990 (getting ready to celebrate 30 years of wedded bliss). At the time, though, I didn’t even know what a mullet was. I just wanted serious in the front, party in the back. I only now realize just how redneck this picture looks with the Bud bottles (both of them mine). We moved to Houston after we got married, and the mullet got too hot so I shaved it off and never looked back.

It’s been fucking exhausting, pretty much working 2 full-day shifts per day. First shift: home-schooling, meal prep/cook/cleanup, outdoor activity. Second shift: actual paying work and trying to get more going.
Gave myself a haircut Monday night, too-- good thing I’ve been doing my own for 25+ years, so this hasn’t really changed anything. I wish I could rock the mullet, but I’ve been going the opposite-- growing the top, and cutting the back and sides shorter.

I’m actually cleaning up my home office desk for the first time in years. I usually just let paid bills and other document collect on it. But now that my wife has seen how clean I keep my work office and now my work-at-home space in the kitchen, I realized that I need to spend a few minutes a night chipping away at it.
Oh, and you may have heard that I’m fostering a dog, which wouldn’t have happened in different circumstances.
Nice mullet, now you need an IROC-Z.

That is phenominal. I really want to casually rock the mullet everyday. I like having my hair long, but dont like the top or sides being too long; literally what a mullet is. I just worry the powers above me at work might deem it unprofessional. Maybe when I am 15 years in the business I can pull it off.

Lots of little project catch up (house, yard, vehicles) . I’m still working full time, just from home, but being able to do 15 minutes here and there or while muted on a call that I’m not not the main speaker on has actually been pretty productive. I’ve also been doing some tractor work around the property that will end up as it’s own post before too long.
Congrats on the mullet ! The amount of video meetings that I am in prohibit anything too drastic. I always wanted a job that let me wear shorts and sandals but this isn’ t quite what I had in mind!

I’ve heard this from more than one friend: they all seem more busy working at home than they are at work.

We legitimately considered adopting another pup. A perfect time than ever to train him/her and not have to foot the cost of a dog sitter.

I jokingly told my manager I’d take a small pay cut to be allowed to wear shorts to work (hourly operators can, but salary cannot). He didn’t find it as funny as I do.

Exactly. No dog-sitter costs, no logistics of transporting two dogs to my dog-sitter, and with me and my wife both at home, we can double-team the new pupper.
Plus, right now there are fewer adoptions happening, but people are still abandoning dogs, so there is a greater need for fosters.

We picked up two baby hens last week. They have been thriving in their brooder (repurposed metal trough) in our mudroom and it has been great fun. Not quite a week and a half old yet. The sounds that they make are far more enjoyable than the sounds coworkers make!

LOVE the mullet, I wish it didn’t have the stigma it does, I think it genuinely looks good.
As for weird stuff while stuck at home, I took up volunteering online with the UN. Its surprisingly easy and there’s a variety of projects for you to choose from. I’m new to it but 10/10 would recommend.

I replaced a cv axle on my Subaru the other day. Looking in to buying a new suspension set up. And now having a mullet is added to the list of quarantine activities. I badly need a haircut, I’m growing out the facial hair because why the hell not so might as well add in a mullet with this white trash patchiness.

Lavender was the theme. It was (is still?) Mrs. Ttyymmnn’s favorite color. Only the maid of honor wore solid lavender.

Mullets, FTW! All of my friends and I rocked bitchin’ mullets back in the day. I finally cut mine off when I met Stan the Man, one of the other freshmen who lived in my dorm. The party in the back went all the way down between his shoulder blades. He was a natural blonde and was a slim build , so from the back, he looked like a girl. I didn’t want to be Stan, so it was time to cut it off.
Projects? I made doors!
Given the situation around us, we may end up turning the storage barn into an isolation area. Now the goal is to prep the back wall for a window a/c unit and get it cleaned out so that if someone in our household falls ill, there will be a safe place for them to stay isolated.

Instead of a bunch of 5 min conversations, I’ve been on 2 1-hour calls a day. I don’t know why conference calls are so draining.

Finished my mud room. Note 22 year old washer and dryer. When maytag made the good stuff.
Legos
Woods clean up. I really wish I could rent a chipper.
Lots of new dishes have been tried tho. Favorite new one is doritos breaded pork chops.
Trying to convince my wife to cut my hair rather than me. Either way it's not going to end well. Might just end up with a mohawk.

Today, end of week 2 of us working from home, the area manager scheduled a department wide conference call to......do an ice breaker. We all had to come up with two truths and a lie to share. Come on everyone

Spent a couple of days throwing together an online ordering site with home delivery for the Ice Cream as most of our usual outlets are closed. Set it live this morning, with a couple of s ocial posts and we’ve had over 30 orders come in for delivery today/tomorrow. There’s still a lot more to do as it was all done in a bit of a hurry.
Also put 50km on the bike in the last couple of days, with a plan to to try and do 20km a day from now on . I usually start work at 7AM, so the mornings are nice and free now.

Exactly! I love having long hair, but hate the care and work I have to put in to keep the top and sides under control. My hair naturally curls so when I don’ t run a brush through it, it looks like i stuck an appendage into a socket.

I’m in the process of installing new gauges in the El Camino. Next up will be installing the new distributor and ignition box. Then it will be time to violate some laws and go do donuts at the movie theater parking lot.
Here are the “auxiliary gauges" that won't be in the main cluster which will only have speed, tach and fuel. (Yes, that is pollen on the dash...).

I never thought I would say this, but I ran out of fun video games to play. I bought Resident Evil 3 remake since I was bored. Wish me luck that I don’t scare the crap out of myself too bad as I don’t usually play horror games. I didn’t know this was still a thing, but you can still buy hard copies of pc games . I purchased a physical copy of Snow Runner for pc off Amazon. The last time I bought a hard copy of a pc game was well over ten years ago. It had been so long in fact that I forgot that I didn’t have a disc drive in my pc. I bought a drive off amazon that should be here on April 24th, the game releasing on the 28th of this month.

Got around to replacing my 32 year old cork valve-cover gaskets. Decided I didn’t want to put the crusty old covers back on, so I got a secondhand set (off a Mustang, so that’s good for like 5-6 HP, right?) and painted them beforehand (blue VHT wrinkle finish) .
Upper intake had to come off to do it, so I gave that a shot of Aluma Blast. The new gaskets are steel-silicone, so I won’t have to do that again.

Damn, a few more weeks of this shelter-in-place and i’ll be halfway towards that.
I’ve been doing some “light reading”. 1983-1984 was a good year, lots of cool stuff hit or getting ready to hit the global fleet that year.
Also got started on the Porsche 910 I’ve been building off/on for the past few years. WalMart flat-black
spray paint
works pretty well.
