The 300TD never existed as a manual as far as I recall, but conversions exist, and other diesel 123 wagons were offered in Europe as a manual (this appears to be  a US spec car). Somewhat unusual color and looks decent from what I can see here.

That is a good color . Really  like the color of the red clay that is common in Georgia , but possibly slightly damp.

Used to see that car pretty frequently, it’s decent, but I bet they want the big $$$$ though.

No manual?  I have that vintage, diesel, in a sedan with the manual...  so was the Touring (T) not offered with a stick?

Never in this market, but the T model was offered with a stick in other markets - however, only non-turbo versions. 300TD never existed with a manual from the factory, as far as I know.  I don’t think the US received a 300D turbo sedan with a manual either, but 240D manuals were a popular option, as it helps performance.

here in CA it’s hard to tell.. that was the end of the grey market period.  I’m stunned by the number of 450SL and SLC R/C107s I see up on CL that clearly were European market cars that somehow ended up on the streets of LA.

I’ve seen a ton of grey market SLCs too, perhaps the most common grey market MB of the era. They were insanely expensive by MSRP in this market (~40K by 1979, I believe) , which likely drove demand back before MB itself bought a law and destroyed that industry.

If actually manual...

Kinja'd!!!

I test drove a 190D manual sedan a loooong time ago and it was slow but still charming. Ugh $1400 I should have bought it...

It’s beautiful even if it’s not a manual, though.

(Perfect project: Making it a manual for nerd- ternet dominance. Do it.)
