Oh, sweet baby Hey-Suze! I made it all the way through, mentally “flipping” a 243 head onto a Gen 5 block— “do the pushrods line up?”, “does that put the ports in the right place???”...
Before reaching the punchline.
OTOH... Has anybody slapped a head on there backwards to see??

I don’t think that LS engine is going to be powerful enough; we should LS swap it.

It wouldn’t have been the silliest thing GM has done.

No one is expecting these late in the day. Most blow their wad early. Good on you for timing.

The real trick would be if the spy shot had a transverse style transmission attached.

Say, there's a good joke for next year: GM to bring back Toronado nameplate, transverse mounted V8

Wouldn’t work without completely custom heads.
The pushrod stem openings are off center. Flipping the heads would mean the openings would be nowhere near where the rod extends.
That said... I wonder if you could alter the cam in such a way that the valves perform opposite duties. So the intake valve becomes the exhaust valve and vice versa. Of course, you would have to relocate the injectors. But then again it would require completely custom intake manifolds and exhaust manifolds anyway. And you’d have a small intake valve and a big exhaust valve also, the head would flow all wrong.
In fact, scratch everything I just said. Just build a completely custom head from scratch. All new design and maybe billet aluminum for fun.

Ford did that for thei r Indy car program in the 60's and 70's. Looked awesome.
