Good news, you got all spring, summer and fall to complete it.

The moment you get it disassembled there will be a freak blizzard. Aim for August.

It started snowing right after I drained the fluids and split case. Then it snowed again the next day.

And I’ve got a surplus of spare tinkering time suddenly.

Then you have all the required tools. Carry on. Keep eyes and ears protected by squinting and folding ears over (or safety goggles and ear muffs )

I just sing loudly to cancel out the sound.

Yeah. That works. I usually curse a lot. Make up my own curse words too. That gets the bystanders interested.

Yeah that is the b ig brain move. The more anger behind those words the more effective what you’re doing is.

With a large hammer.
If that doesn’t work use a bigger hammer.

I actually do need to bust out the BFH to knock the drive wheel off.

Is there a particular reason you’re taking it apart? Not enough things to do?
I took the augers apart to replace No. 44 once
.
Replacement part was upgraded to not fit so I had to drill new mounting holes for No. 52. W
asn’t too bad though.
How far are you taking yours apart?

I’m taking it apart for paint. It’s rusted to shit and I don’t want to buy a new one. Any snowblower I could replace it with would be smaller and way more expensive than this one was. It cost us the princely sum of $100. All told I’ve got probably $500 into it and 7 winters out of it.
I want to pull all the guts out of the bucket and clean it and the spiny bits up. The gear box was recently serviced so I’m trying not to open it but I want everything out of the bucket to I can clean the rust up and paint it.

NP for $100. yeah, mine was $1200 (?) back in 2004. Since I got it new, rust isn’t horrible. I just keep slapping POR-15 on it.
But yike! You got a project. And lots of time and energy.
