I needed to cut a longish taper. The lumber is repurposed from a decommissioned futon frame.

I watched this guy make a 4-sided taper jig. While I don’t have a need for tapering anything right now, I’m planning on making some of the other jigs. I’ll probably start with a cross-cut sled.
If it doesn’t start in the right place, jump to 20:50 to see the tapering jig.

What makes this shop teacher happy to see in the photos??? A Riving knife in place.
Safety is no accident, just like clean air is no choke.

That’s a homegrown r
iving knife. I was without one for years and years and years and years. And then somehow, I came to the conclusion that having one would be a good idea. So I made one. As I think about it, I think I understand why they're a good idea. I got shot by a piece of plywood once with that table saw...

That thing looks complicated. I just lengthened the fence and stuck a wooden dowel in to keep the edge off the fence and then fed it through.

Nice!
More woodworking is to do on my list as well. Finally put some work into an old Craftsman 113 saw that’s older than I am this past weekend. Hopefully can get it up and running here shortly and slap a couple projects together.

Huh. I thought it looked pretty straightforward. I could see making one if I started making tables that needed tapered legs. For cutting just a couple of tapers, it might be overkill.
