Austin Public Health says about a week and-a-half ago, the group comprised of approximately 70 adults in their 20s left for a spring break trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Currently, 28 of the 70 have tested positive for COVID-19, and more of them are under public health investigation. The University of Texas at Austin confirmed “many of those involved” were UT Austin students.
Not sure “adults” is the word I would use.

Most spring breakers are kidults at the best of times . The mentality of an 11 year old with daddy’s credit card.
Surprised this wasn’t Liberty U, but spring break might be prohibited in a Bible passage or something.

I mean: Liberty University Brings Back Its Students, and Coronavirus Fears, Too
So Mr. Falwell — a staunch ally of President Trump and an influential voice in the evangelical world — reopened the university last week, igniting a firestorm. As of Friday, Dr. Eppes said, nearly a dozen Liberty students were sick with symptoms that suggested Covid-19, the disease caused by the virus. Three were referred to local hospital centers for testing. An additional eight were told to self-isolate.

I had to have a very difficult conversation with Thing 3 last night because excellent boyfriend but also COVID bubble and Missus is in a higher-risk group. This stuff is life-and-death, potentially, and you just cannot expect an 18-year-old to grasp it fully. Thing 1 is due in July and is worried about having to deliver without Hubby there and I say if she makes it home with a healthy baby, that a fluting win .

My stepmother gave me my first driving lesson in a graveyard. While it’s true that the roads were untraveled, the symbolism was inescapable.

That would be a good sample group to see if any are vapers, and if they have more issues as has been reported.

Bloody idiots. This whole experiment to me is proving the downfalls of our focus on individual liberty. In times when the common good is what we should focus on how do we balance the two? I’m NOT saying I don’t value the freedoms this country gives me in general, but there must be a better balance.
Also, don’t want to start another thread but just reading this boiled my blood. Anybody care to keep defending this asshat’s leadership here and his priorities ?
Chemicals used to construct military missiles. Materials needed to build drones. Body armor for agents patrolling the southwest border. Equipment for natural disaster response.
A Korean War-era law called the Defense Production Act has been invoked hundreds of thousands of times by Mr. Trump and his administration to ensure the procurement of vital equipment, according to reports submitted to Congress and interviews with former government officials.
Yet as governors and members of Congress plead with the president to use the law to force the production of ventilators and other medical equipment to combat the pandemic , he has for weeks treated it like a last resort, to be invoked only when all else fails.
“You know, we’re a country not based on nationalizing our business,” Mr. Trump said earlier this month. “Call a person over in Venezuela, ask them how did nationalization of their businesses work out? Not too well.”

I’m also asthmatic and super not looking forward to catching this bug.
Meanwhile, I have a friend who is convinced this is a hoax. Luckily, he lives in Dallas so he and his spawn are not an immediate danger to me.
However, if you live in 75218, look out! There’s at least one denier amongst you.

There are two cases that I know of in my Zip code, and it’s not a huge area. I am using my daily combo inhaler religiously twice a day. My lungs feel good, but I don’t want to test them out. I plan to stay home as much as humanly possible.

My medication compliance is usually pretty crappy, but I’ve been a LOT better of late. I’m on a single-ingredient corticosteroid and I’ve got a rescue inhaler if things get bad. I ’ve been home for the last 2 weeks, though I do work for an essential company (warehousing and logistics) and I’ve been to the office for half days twice.
The big bummer is that if there are good flying days in the next several weeks/months that I’ll probably have to let them just go by. I went flying last week, but that’s probably my last until this gets resolved.
