So my 6-core, 12-thread Precision Xeon i5 workstation, with all 12 threads running flat out, consumes about 260 watts of power. Less than I would’ve thought.

I’ve got a couple Ryzen 5 chips, a 1050 and a RX5700 that have been running all but they’re barely getting any workloads.  Maybe they each complete a job or two a day.

255 watts on my i9-9900K (Overclocked), though it takes close to an hour plus 15 minutes for one work to be finished.

I was expecting a huge power bill, but this is fine! Now if only I can get the unruly 2080ti to work.

I Don't really know what any of that means, but they've kept my machine gainfully employed since I signed up. If I'm honest, I just like the thing being used to its full potential for a change.

Well, they're keeping my machine gainfully employed. I'm happy to see it getting used to its full potential.

My ryzen 3 700x runs all 16 threads and generated about 220k points per day at 108 watts (4.2 all cores) . My 1070 gpu card grinds about 750k points per day at 180 watts. Point is, gpu is vastly more efficient. My plan is eventually running a few 2060 cards to get a million points/acard a day at 160 watts each. That's 4x the points of my processor for same price .

Well, I don't game, so no GPUs that I know of. And I'm not going to buy parts just for folding. I'm happy to see the cores that I have being put to full use.

I get it. Just putting that out there for folks who have parts and didnt know cards can do it with such little power per point. I  have an older computer for the kids while now home schooling, that has an efficient card but really inefficient older am d chip, like it runs 289watts. It’s lots of power for hardly any good work. But if people are rounding up older parts, try to focus on the gpu side.

Yes. I’m just happy to see my machine put to full use at a reasonable power level. I don't understand the scoring though. I wonder if I'm scoring few enough points to make it not worth the electrons I'm investing.
