... but right now I don’t have a choice. My upstairs neighbor had about 8-9 friends over and they were out on the porch smoking some of the skunkiest weed I’ve smelled in some time. They were rather loud and I politely asked them to quiet down a bit and they seemed cool with that and took their gathering inside. But in opening the door my place started to fill with smoke.
This place is supposed to be no smoking and no drugs, but I won’t begrudge them their fun - I just wish I could partake. They were outside, which is cool, but now my place has the stank. They do have one other option - if t hey go up to the third floor, the second level of their unit, they can easily hop onto the roof and smoke there without bothering anyone or being spotted.
I have found a good distribution method for air freshener. I just turn on the fan on my central A/C then spray the air freshener into the return air ducts in the hallway which spreads it throughout the whole house. I did spray a bit more around the entry since that’s where the stink is strongest. With the Nest thermostat it’s extremely easy to set the fan to run for a certain duration; I have it set for two hours, and by the time I get back home the stench should be gone.

Especially when they’re all crowded around the steps in our small front yard.
A few were wearing surgical masks, so I guess that makes it OK...

I was a resident adviser for a couple of years in college. It was surprising how many people didn’t realize that the building they were living in had central a/c and their rooms were vented into the hallway. Some of them tried to cover it up with incense, but since they weren’t allowed to burn candles or incense, we always knew what was up. We always explained to them how we knew they were smoking and if they didn’t get straightened up, the next knock on their door could be the campus police. Those guys didn’t mess around.

First week of m y freshman year, the floor RA provided instructions on the use of a damp towel as a draft block at the bottom of the door in conjunction with a paper towel/TP core stuffed with dryer sheets & window fan pointed out . He said he didn’t really give a shit what we did, as long as he couldn’t smell it, but if he could, there was no grace period - 1 strike & you’re out.
Tough but fair. No one got the boot, and it was 4: 20 near daily for some.

I like the Febreeze extra strength. Most of the time extra strength anything is an exercise in marketing BS, but in this case, it really is a stronger deodorant.
