Damn, I really want a two wheel motor these days. If I could find a cheap ruckus, I would go for it I think

I honestly have no idea... part of me is tempted to get a newer daytona. Part of me wants SLIGHTLY more power (Ducati 899) and a 3rd part of me wants something with a LOT more power (R1)

But for this year, I think Im just doing to take the cash and finish fixing the 2 90s hondas I have.

How cheap is cheap? If you go used, you can get a lot of scooter for not much money. For a lot less than the cost of a 50cc Ruckus, you can buy something that can at least keep up with traffic around town.

Without a motorcycle licence, I can’t go above 50cc.  This is the requirement unless I want to go for my bike licence:

Has no more than a 50 cubic cm engine displacement or 1.5 kilowatt motor rating

Does not need clutching or shifting after the drive system is engaged

Has a maximum speed on level ground of 70 km/h and weighs no more than 95 kilograms, excluding fuel and batteries

Must have wheels that are 25.4 cm in diameter or more

Is getting the license a big deal? I know things work a little different in your part of the world. Here in my state, 10 dollars and passing a computerized test gets you a permit. The only restrictions are:

-no passengers

-you must wear a helmet (duh)

-you can only ride sunrise-sunset

The only one that affects me is that third one, and it isn’t really that big of a deal.

It’s awful here... This province hates drivers, but we hate riders more..

In addition to what you are restricted to, here you have to be followed by a supervisor during your permit stage, which means if you can’t hire someone, you can’t ride.

When you ride, you must be within sight of a qualified supervisor . Your supervisor must be at least 19 years old (if you hold a Class 8L your supervisor must be at least 25 years old) and must hold a valid Class 6 full-privilege licence.

Ok that's awful. Get the Ruckus.

Like, I really respect the people here who do get their bike license, but I really can’t be bothered.

I really want a ruckus, preferably one for both my wife and I. We really love riding scooters

Scooters are fun. Just remember that a 50cc two stroke is going to be faster than the 50cc four stroke in a Ruckus.

I had a ruckus the my last few semesters in college. They are a blast. Stupidly slow but after a few mods they can keep up with two stroke scooters and even break 50mph. They best part about modding them was that you could actually notice gains after each change. CVT tuning can be fun too. Hell, a loaded down backpack, some groceries and a case of beer would slow it down noticeably. Resale wise it’s pretty much the Tacoma of scooters. I sold mine for what I paid for it even after a couple thousand miles.

Fun fact: a ruckus can fit upright in the back of a first gen Xterra if you take the handlebars off.

That’s the spirit! Right back on the horse, so to speak!

I never got the full story - I know there was a motorcycle + rider interface with a guardrail, but what happened?  hit gravel?  let off the throttle?  (this is not a blame the rider thing but more of an analysis thing)

all I remember is losing the front end (likely because of salt or sand or something) and then waking up in hospital 15 hours later

Fuck.  Regardless, glad you’re on the mend and not hanging up your helmet.
