Am I doing this right?
This Yamaha Riva 180 is for sale right now but I’m not to eager to go to Minneapolis at the moment. But the brown, the comfy seats, and the 80s dash make me smile.

And it’s got a blue high-beam light. Allowed.

I’ve been on a lookout for project car. Lately been perusing Copart’s website.
Tempted by these two: ‘73 El Camino and ‘47 Pontiac . Although I’m not sure if that Chevy could be exported if it has lien title.

I was sent home this week and I can't do anything productive. Auto parts stores are closed so I can't wrench. Was looking at possible next car candidates and the S3 just does it for me. At least on paper. Damn, I just have developed a soft spot for 2000s German cars. 265hp, quattro, three doors and a stick sound great to me. Just hoping there will be unmolested ones in a few years time when my funds will match my car related ambitions..

I tried posting this last week. But I’ve never had authorship privileges. My most recent Ranger “Old Blue”, was in the news for the wrong reasons last week. She didn’t make it.

I really want to build a notchback of this, in the trans-am style, suspension, wheels, etc, but for the mountain roads. And oddly with the 200-6, but with the new aluminm heads that breaathe like the gt-40 heads, and a full set of itb injection for each cylinder.
sorta like this, but you get the idea. Id have 250 h/275t. Perfect balance.

Well at least who ever got it stuck on the train tracks was out having fun before it got smacked. Looks like the dirt bikes maybe have survived too.

Both of those cars look like fun projects! I wonder if it would be easier to import one if you labeled it as “parts”? Or perhaps that would make it trickier to register for road use later?
Fun fact, you can swap the front sheetmetal and doors of a ‘73 Pontiac onto those Colonnade-platform El Caminos. T he styling matches up pretty well, so it’s not a terribly difficult conversion, either.

My Grandma used to have a 1964 Chevy Impala SS in a metallic blue...
It was her baby. She said that she believed it was “ the car to have in 1964". It was her daily driver until it became my mom’s first car. It was still Grandma’s baby, though. Sadly, one day when my mom was driving it, it got hit hard by a drunk driver and the insurance company declared it to be total ed. My grandpa told me he was pretty worried when he got the news of the crash, saying “I wasn’t sure whether I ranked above or below that car. ” They sold it to someone who said he wanted to restore it, and they never saw it again...
I still have the VIN number, so I sometimes fantasize about trying to track down grandma’s old Impala, see what happened to it, and, if possible, try to restore it. But I’ve gotta get my Thunderbird fixed up first, and save up a lot more money. And find somewhere to park another land yacht...

We spoke about those conversions earlier, I think Buick front end would look good on these.
I would need a title to register it here without one or with certificate of destruction it’s unregisterable by my understanding.

Yeah, the Buick front end would look great (personally, I’d go with the Oldsmobile). Trouble is, to make the styling match up, you have to swap the doors as well, and the ‘73 Buick’s doors may or may not match up with the El Camino’s quarter panels. I can’t decide based on photos whether they’re similar enough, so you might have to modify the El Camino’s quarter panels slightly to make it work...

More HP than a stock 289 at 3/4 weight? I like your thinking!

A stock 289 will be 150 pounds heavier. Power to weight ratio of about 10:1., better balance and handling and fun sounds. Plus, It’s easy to find an already fresh stang with a 6 for not much - relatively speaking.

Yup, that’s the conclusion I’ve come to.
