About two years ago I built this desk out of a craigslist tanker desk find and an office spare wood top in good shape. The issue was the chair armrests would knock into a push in the side slide-out trays and whatever was on them would fall off. Plus, a keyboard tray is nice to keep wires out of the way.. So, I recently ordered parts for a drawer slide to get rid of the middle drawer and put in a keyboard tray.
The tray is a Stair step, inch thick, already mitered toe edge. $10. I moved the pedastals out as wide as I could on the six foot top and then cut the step to fit the rails.
I now have 34" of keyboard tray, and will get another piece to epoxy on to the back of it so I will be extra deep and I can put some shallow trays back there for pens and pencils and the like. Some of what I lost removing the center drawer. Once thats all done, I will stain/seal it all up and it will mostly match.
I did some kind of hot rodding while indoors.
Also gave me an excust to clean up my desk space. It was geting pretty awful. Now, no wires to mice and keyboards. Yay!

That’s pretty neat. Good day in quarantine. Is that a curved screen? How do you like it?

My family spent the day tackling the back yard, which was overgrown from winter and hadn’t yet had a spring clean. Still some more work to do, but it looks a darn sight better than it did.

Freakin love it! Long time ago I ran 3 x 24 and rfactor/iracing/eve online, but then got kids who want me to read to them. So, no time for racing/epic online games . Sold them to a young developer kid, and got a29" 21:9, which was surprisingly a touch shorter than a 24", but it worked very well. But I needed just a bit more realestate, plus my eyes and small fonts....
It’s a 38 " AOC 21:9, 1440, will go 120hz g-sync.....a 1070 isnt enough to run that fast on this. My next buy will be a 3070 when they show up. What I really like, is if I’m writing, I can divide the screen into 3 verticals and write, cut-paste-edir and google facts and stuff/music all on one screen. I know they’re a bit pricey, but this was the less expensive big curved example that was still regarded as a solid screen. I recommend these.

I always liked those tanker desks, why have some crap desk from IKEA when you can have an icon... especially with all those nice upgrades

Its goddamn heavy now! These desks are fantastic. Check the craigslist and university/office surplus places. This one had very minimal dents/rash compared to others and they only wanted $100. In mint shape they are very popular and expensive. the metal 5 foot top it came with is in my garage made into a work table. I’m quite happy.

Cool. I have no experience with curved screens, but I read they were mostly a gimmick in TVs. Monitors are a different thing though when you’re in close.

Very nice. We have a couple of antique wood desks that are so narrow they are practically unusable. Both kids finally rejected them and now one resides on the back porch and is used for gardening and the other is taking up space in my garage. The kids now have bigger desks. With the additional space, I set them both up with docking stations and external monitors. They can now run two monitors if they want to.
