Well, not physically, but one of my best friends. Said Wednesday there was no cases in his county, but was still relatively isolating himself and his family. Social distancing. Everything he’s supposed to. Texted last night to say he has a fever, dry cough, the works. This morning tested negative for both strep and flu. Fucking hell.

A student of mine has ten sick family members in NJ. I’ve resigned myself to the fact I’ll definitely be exposed on account of my sister being a nurse and her need for childcare at this time. We’re all healthy with no smokers, and we’ve had my grandma locked down since last week, so I’m not worried. My SIL has had a sore throat for a week and tested negative for strep. For some reason the doc gave her antibiotics

Unfortunately yeah, that sounds inevitable for you. I hope you guys are able to ride it out well. I know the numbers mean that it’s pretty even odds as to whether or not we get it. I lucky as hell that work is smart and has said stay home until May, at least.
Good luck, and stay healthy.
And goddamn, antibiotics for a negative strep test is dumb. Find a new doctor at that point.

My wife wipes everything down before it comes in. It's overkill, but is it really? Maybe not. Who knows?

We’ve been staying in as well and we’ve got a bit of a process now. For deliveries (Amazon, groceries, etc), we note on special inst ructions box upon order to ring the doorbell and leave on the porch. Couple times I’ve had to motion to leave on the porch from the window. Generally leave it out there a bit, and then take it to the garage (w/ gloves or disinfectant wipes - not through the house either ), open it (steriliz e knife after) , disinfect and let it sit for whatever days until we need it . For cold/frozen stuff we clean it all off in the garage and throw it in the other fridge/ freezer for a period of time. Also doing outside/inside only shoe routine. Paranoid? Sure. Necessary? Unsure. Working so far ( until it doesn’t) . If nothing else, ma kes us feel safer about the whole thing .

Right? My sister is getting her doctorate if nursing practice and NP certification this year and is thankfully not of this mindset. My wife is a total hippy and going back to school to get a doctorate in naturopathy, so we’re of a bit different mindset.
