This one has been a lifeline.
When I first heard it, I was a kid too young to get anything. When I heard it again after living in Detroit with a huge ambition in my heart, it was a javelin. Like the grit of the midwestern summer in the late 60s-early 70s hit like trying to be everything your parents and grandparents had ever hoped for, and you just wanted to live up to that promise of the next generation, looking up at the stars, where people were going for the first time.
“To better times, and brighter days,” indeed.
Stay strong, everyone. Stay healthy. Keep checking in. Be good to yourself. Be good to others.

I like that. I’ve been on a Disco/Funk kick lately. It could use less orchestral backing and a funkier tune (this was 1970 so still a bit early) but the lyrics and singing are great even if it isn’t Diana. These days for me DR&S I’like Love Child, after she left I love Upside Down mostly because Chic gave it that funk! (even though it was all the way out in 1980 ).
