So the 500 is now on August 23rd to fill part of the gap left in the schedule for the Olympics. As long as it still goes forward the good part is I was able to quickly get a room for half of the points of the Memorial Day weekend rate and I got over half of my flight cost back in future credit. I am guessing it will be hot as balls but at least there’s a good chance it will run this year.

So it will probably be pretty brutal on the track if the sun is out, but not too bad as a spectator. Think low to mid 80s if it’s a nice day. It could pull a 90+ day on you though. You never know for sure with August.

I went to the 500 on the hottest race day in recent memory, 95° give or take. It can be bloody hot in May, too.

I’m expecting it to be hot as balls, but I will be there.

The fun part will be the humidity. Highs
could be anywhere from mid-70s to low 100s, though somewhere in the upper 80s most likely. The rough part is it will be all kinds of humid to go with that.

I live in the Houston area so hot humid summers are nothing new for me

Whatever you book for August, make damn sure its refundable, even if you have to pay more upfront. I’m out $630 in COVID-19 cancellation fees so far, and there’s a good chance all this will still be happening 5 months from now.

If you live in Houston, ignore that comment. I went from new Orleans to Indiana. Indiana isn't humid. What three me is that the coastal moderation isn't there, and it'd be 100 in the day and 70 at night.

The 2018 running, I believe. Yeah, that was brutal, but honestly once the race started we barely noticed the heat.
Last year's running was fantastic. And man, those final laps...
