The stages he observed were first downplaying the problem, denial that the Covid-19 disease is serious, being annoyed at the inconvenience of pubs and restaurants being closed, followed by nervousness, working from home or being laid off but still meeting friends outside. The fifth stage, government-enforced quarantines leads to judging others for going out and increasing paranoia followed by fear and anger when the reality that behind the numbers are real people dying.
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! who was forced back to the US from his second home in Italy. Where he experienced the worst of it and was appalled at what he saw after his return to the states. I say conscientious because he sat through a three week quarantine in Italy before entering into further quarantines immediately upon entry to the US.

ortality rates are what we are all concerned with, right? Afterall, infection rates are biased depending on how many asymptomatic (or even symptomatic!) people you test, but it’s hard to hide the bodies. There’s some very well prepared (and updating) graphics at
www.ft.com
and
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
which show the US is on the same path as China and Iran as far as mortality rates, but still below Spain, France and
Italy. Small comfort, but it’s something
I’m not convinced the US is doing anything better or different: I still see and hear lots of people around me ignoring the risk of the disease they can’t see until it’s too late. After your coworker coughs on you or goes home with a fever, it’s too late to distance yourself. The time to get off the train tracks is when you hear the whistle, not when you see the wide eyes of the conductor 6 feet in front of you . Stay safe

I think both New York and Florida are going to be getting a rude wake up call very soon.

I think this one is the most concerning though
Especially given the known shortage of available tests. And with Trump’s comments about opening the country back up, I have a feeling cases will start leveling out and this administration will take that as a sign we’re past the worst. Try to re-open everything and then 2 weeks later be shocked that cases are rising again.

Mortality rates are what we are all concerned with, right?
For me, only indirectly. I’m more worried about overall healthcare capacity, which obviously might lead to higher mortality rates...

With the number of old people and dumb spring breakers, FL is a case study what not to do.
I have a dumb older relative going how he’s not going to give into being afraid by the media. Good luck buddy, you’re gonna need it

My intent in making this post was to address the human side of the equation. How it physically and mentally impacts individuals. I can only hope some forgo charts and trackers to see the importance of support and information from those they cannot meet. To make that relevant where they are.
