There’s a cheap 2002 S2000 for sale near me. I’m talking $4k, but it is missing the engine. It’s gone. I’m still thinking I could fix it up, enjoy it, and still flip it for a little profit. It’s white with red interior. What are your thoughts?

UPDATE: I’m not mad, I’m just Disappointed with some of these responses.  You know who you are lol

Put a Miata engine in it and disappoint everyone

I won’t be LS swapping it or coal rolling it.  Hell, I’ll Renesis swap it before any of that...

As far as I know, yes.

No. It needs too much $$$$ to get it on the road. For $1500 it could be a good project.

They regularly still go for $10k.  Even if I paid out the nose for a reman engine, I’d still come out ahead if I did the wrenching myself.

Drop in a Pontiac 389, 2 barrel carb, and Rotohydramatic transmission.

Total miles? And wire harness isnt messed with?

I mean clutch and related can be easily upgraded as is but high miles on diff and trans would want me to rebuild it. They are fairly built as is but still. And at $ 4k not worth total drivetrain overhaul

I’m going to look at it tonight and see.  I believe the chassis has 110k miles on it.  Which isn’t really all that bad for a Honda trans and differential.

Lol I picked the 389 because it’s a huge iron lump that would totally screw up the weight distribution.

Seems like too much money to me.  And I would always assume that any roller will need lots of suspension, brake, and trans work.

No that’s just breaking it in, I was worried it was 250k+. Then the guy was just starting to part it out and got a good offer on the motor

Not knowing any more details, this doesn’t sound right. S2000's in otherwise good shape are still $15k+ cars. Parting a good one out over a dead engine doesn’t make sense. Parting a clapped out one with rust, or accident damage , or whatever else, that also has a dead engine would, but in that case $4k is too much for a rolling shell.

I read the headline as “ BMW 2002 with an S2000 motor” and I thought, “damn, that sounds amazing.”

Also, I’m not dislexic, you’re dibmexfit.

I miss my S2000 a lot, so just because of that I say do it as long as everything else is still there and in good shape, and you have the ability to put in a new engine at relatively low expense on your own.
