"Jake - Has Bad Luck So You Don't Have To" (murdersofa)

Haven’t posted in here in a while. Had to drive to an adjacent town for a work thing yesterday. The Insight has a door now and it is a much nicer place to be now. Getting upper 40s for fuel economy I believe but I have yet to do a fillup to verify the dash computer. Has a few persistent codes that I need to take care of. P0420, of course, because there’s no cat. I think I have an iffy ground in the engine bay somewhere that’s causing some intermittent issues. Going to slap some new speakers in it tonight, wish I could find my cassette adapter.

Nice! I test drove a new 1st gen when I was 15 (long story) and grabbing one has been on my list for a while. That instrument cluster alone is worth the price of admission.

Yup! 2000 with 189k miles on it. IMA functions (mostly, sometimes I’ll lose assist until I cycle the ignition but there seems to be no problem with the battery; I suspect a faulty ground somewhere) and pretty much everything works.

But if you took off the doors, it would basically be a Jeep.

That’s awesome, future classic. The 5 speed especially. Always liked the story of how C&D coaxed 121 MPG out of it...

I know it’s primary purpose is fuel economy, but do these have any tuning potential? They’re such cool-looking cars.

Engine swap potential! K swaps are fairly common

The engine bay ground straps are a pretty common point of failure, but you probably know that. Holler if you ever get it up to KC, my Insight could always use a friend.

I was actually just in KC Saturday picking up that red door from the guy parting one out locally. Going to check out the ground straps later today. Are you on FB perchance? Shoot me a friend request; I’m about to make this same post in the Oppositelock facebook group

I’ve owned 4 black cars and I refuse to own another. Truly dreadful color.

I must’ve missed this post, haha! Just posted on one of your recent Youtube vids asking what the CEL codes were, so I guess this answers my question! :P
The Insight is slowly getting better! :)
