Pictured is more what we are used to at some stations here in Southern California. And as soon as a week ago, I paid about $3.75 for a gallon at Costco. Today I went back to the same costco and paid $2.85! That is definitely the lowest I have ever seen it here. And with the safer at home order, there actually wasnt a long ass line like there usually is. Maybe people are finally listening.
And before you chastise me for going out, getting gas and groceries is certainly an excepted activity from the ban. The Ralphs (Kroger) was actually full of most things which was nice. Obviously still no TP but everything else was in decent supply. Managed to buy everything on my list, even soap, butter, milk, and some bread. There were signs up with restrictions on just about everything. Nice to see that those are finally working! Or the hoarders cant physically fit anything else in their homes and cars and yards....
In other news, working from home is neat. I’m not used to having a window and music and being able to cook lunch in a real kitchen rather than a microwave. While I cant do any real work from home, Im finding things to do that feel productive since theyve been put off due to being too busy with real stuff.
Plus the view is pretty nice from here!

I took the family out for a drive yesterday. No destination, just to get out of the house. I saw as low as $1.94/gallon for regular. While we certainly don't have the fuel prices you do in California, it's been a long time since I saw them that low.

Ive definitely seen a way worse spread than that! And its definitely unique to California. Although I guess Ive seen the same in Manhattan. Seems to be when theres rich people o plenty, gas is whatever the hell the station feels like charging sometimes.

I wonder if we will see somewhere (like Texas) end up with sub $1 gas during this.

I just did a quick check for fuel near home, north of you in CA and gas prices are around $ 3.75 for regular at most station but when I look at Costco, sure enough a full dollar cheaper....$2.70, crazy.

I've heard that already happened at one station in Kentucky, but cannot confirm the accuracy of that.

Our Costco has gas at $1.60 a gallon last week. Well under $2.00 a gallon at most places in nw Ohio.

I saw a $1.29/gallon sign yesterday. I’m wondering it it’s a typo since we’ve been about $1.89 on average, and it switched to $1.69 for non-cardholders, but holy crap. All of this is absurdly cheap for Austin.

I’m pretty sure it can’t go that low in any state on the west coast due to taxes. Up here there is more than $1 on taxes on every gallon and CA has unique local fuel requirements that bump the base price of the fuel itself, combined with similar taxes, therefore it’s unlikely you’ll even make it as low as we can go.

Proximity to a freeway, fuel brand, how frequented a station is, current fuel price s, and neighborhood will do that. It’s similarly random where I live...
