the crazy Japanese GT cars of the late ‘80s/early ‘90s, like the 300ZX, 3000GT-VR4/Dodge Stealth, the last (real) Supra. you know, back when 300 hp from a twin-turbo 6 cylinder was hot
I also had a soft spot for the BMW 8-series. Would never own one knowing what a nightmare of complexity they are, but they looked good.

Reliability is why I bought a 128i instead of a 135i, despite the relatively small price difference. It’s still going to have some foibles but the port injected NA engine should remain fairly solid apart from some gaskets that need addressing and probably a preventative water pump swap that I need to look into.

That’s all I like! The ones I’ve owned:
BMW: E30 325, E34 525, E46 330, E46 M3
Mercedes: W204 C63 AMG, W124 300TE
Toyota: FJ80 Land Cruiser, V6 RAV4, 4th-gen 4Runner, 5th-gen 4Runner
Audi: SQ5
Acura: Vigor
Others I love and may or may not attempt to own someday: for the Germans, basically every fast ‘80s and ‘90s BMW and Mercedes or GT , but especially the BMW 8-series and Cosworth 190e; Porsche 964 and 993 911s ; Audi RS2 and the forthcoming RS6. For the Japanese, the R32 and R34 skylines; Acura NSX; pretty much every rally homologation model but especially the Nissan Pulsar GTIR and Pajero Evo; and lots of offroaders—the FJ60 Land Cruiser, Nissan Patrol/Safari, the V60 Pajero. Of those, I’ve come closest to owning a Cossie 190, FJ60, and Nissan Safari. At the very least a 911 of some generation is almost certainly in my future and I wouldn’t rule out taking on an 840.

I’ve been led to believe that the 2-series was a big jump up in reliability for BMW. Still no Camry, but good for a modern German car.

Japan: RWD or rear-based AWD Toyotas and Lexuses (SUVs included), most Hondas and Acuras (though I am very outspokenly critical of the TLX), pre-VQ Nissans, the FD RX-7.
Germany: Porsches are all right I guess

Of the cars that I’ve actually driven but not owned -
I really liked the BMW 330 owned by a guy I used to work with - just the right size, good power, handling/ride was just perfect (supple but taught.)
I had a girlfriend with one of the first gen Acura Legends that was super nice for the time.
Of the vehicles I’ve owned -
I really enjoyed the 92 Accord coupe we had - very well built, tight handling, ergo was great, nice seats, decent power with the manual
My current WRX is super fun, it’s not perfect but the rambunctious motor his a hoot, decent brakes, I really like the base cloth seats, ergo is excellent, makes loud noises.
2009 Mazda 3 hatch - probably the most fun car to drive that I’ve owned. Handling was superb, manual transmission was best in class, ergo was decent.
of the vehicles I haven’t driven but want -
I’d like to drive some of the older BMW M cars, orig M5, pretty much all the M3s
For Nissan, I’d like to drive a 300zx turbo and one of the r34 GTrs.
Honda - original NSX, a last gen Prelude.

Easy:
the elegant Eunos Cosmo, (better with a 20B and this rad body kit, that little pill looking thing in front of the rear wheels lights up. )
Whatever these are called (some Audi or somethin’) ,
and this particular 928 convertible . I can’t find which company did the modification , but a book I have says that one just like it was “prepared for a Porsc he executive by Gemballa Coachworks. Among the departures from the norm are brakes to Formula 1 standard, extended and flared bodywork, and twin turbochargers fitted to the uprated engine. The most obvious change is the lack of a roof: Porsche never made any convertible 928s.”
but this ad shows one that is identical, and it says “Jurinek Automobile”.
When I Google’d it, it lead me to Strosek, an entirely different thing...?

What kind of question is that mate, doesn’t everyone like Japanese and German cars? With the obvious exception of the boomer who yells dey took our jobs and only likes American cars despite some foreign cars having higher domestic parts content than American ones.
