"Full of the sound of the Gran Fury, signifying nothing." (granfury)

I couldn’t sleep (I’ve been awake since 11 AM Sunday) so I decided to get some food before the lockdown rush. I know we can still get food during under the restrictions (which start tonight at 6), but why push it?
If I wanted to make French toast I would have been SOL - the first place I went to didn’t have bread, eggs or milk. They were stocking the shelves whilst I was shopping, but according to the signs on the doors, they were cutting back the hours of the store for cleaning and restocking. It did appear clean, so at least they got around to that part.
I don’t know if trucks are running behind or if they were short on staff, but I figure that everyone is still trying to figure out this whole mess and therefore there’s no reason to freak out. So I’ll have chicken corn chowder instead of Manhattan clan chowder - nothing to get upset about...

Went to target last night about 8. It was mercifully empty and they were certainly out of many items but we were able to get everything we needed. There was a guy with a big pile of boxes restocking the (empty) banana display, so that’s a good sign.

Supply is borked, last week we received only 2 of our 5 orders and our supplier told us to only order a specific amount. The last day we recieved toilet paper but in a brand/size we dont carry which says that it was basically rationed to us and likely everyone else(“everyone’s ordering toilet paper and the brands they want is out but we do have this, so we will send everyone 4 cases”)
When things will get back into store shelves depends on how fast the supplier can get pallets into their warehouse aswell as how many drivers they have. Not to mention if warehouse workers are getting sick.
Something to consider: Grocery stores are a hotbed for the virus, everything you buy has been personally handled by an employee who will be present until they're obviously sick(and thus too late).

I think you mean Oppo approved potato waffles.

Yep, and even curbside pickup doesn't avoid it. Still interacting with a public facing employee, and everything going into your car has already been handled multiple times by lots of people. It's why I don't get why the panic buying is continuing regardless of worsening shutdowns. The message is stay home unless you really need to leave, which includes unnecessary grocery shopping.

I understand the panic buy of essentials but that only works if you do it once, n ot pop by for the rest of the week to pick up coffee with some odds and ends

Yep, with all the buying that's been going on, stores should not still be this swamped and cleaned out. People are using it as a social activity now, cant go anywhere else, might as well go to the store and walk around and maybe buy some stuff while they're there

My germaphobe partner immediately wipes down everything we get at the grocery store with a clorox wipe, or washes the item in the sink with soap. Clothes immediately go in the washing machine and then I usually jump in the shower. This is probably overboard, but I really don’t want to get sick and she wont have it any other way, so might as well...

I don’t like, or want to make, French toast. I just wanted eggs, bread and milk - basic household staples, and the store was out of all three. I purposely went out of my way to go to a larger store to avoid this so that I didn't have to go out for the next week or two and it didn't go according to plan.

Whenever there is a snow storm or anything everyone buys eggs, bread and milk so I call it French Toast Shopping. Shit’s crazy out there.

Gotcha - never heard that term before, but it is quite descriptive.
There was plenty of syrup, however...

It’s my own term that’s probably why you’ve never heard it. Clearly you
weren’t shopping in Canada if there was syrup left.
