I decided it was time to put together my fuel system for the carbs, and thanks to the good folks at Earl’s Performance Plumbing it was cheap and easy. And pretty.

Kinja'd!!!

It had banjo bolts on the carbs and presumably a rubber line going between them. And that would have worked fine! But I wanted to do what I wanted to do, and what I wanted to do was this. In retrospect I could have just done a 90 degree hose end instead of the two elbows I used, but originally the elbow was going on a banjo bolt adapter and I just wanted to use what I had.

You can also see my carb linkage, which is a work in progress because the push rod hits the balance lever...I may have to change the levers to make the rod work.

In other news I got furloughed at work today, but it looks like I’ll be able to go back to my old job for a month until my current job brings me back. Good times.

Very nifty build. May the result put a big smile on your face!

My Z has a little bit, Techno Toy Tuning strut braces have it as an option. My plug wires are blue so I thought it would look good.

How about a (believe it or not, this is stock, not some “racing” part) Chevy Cobalt/HHR wheel cylinder:

off topic; did you have issues overheating? o r was that the later 280s?

...huh. Some factory parts are needlessly wild and I like it.

I really wish I had the space for an ITG filter setup like that, I think you had recommended it to me when I was talking about filters a while back...it’s just super tight between the carb and alternator, zero room in there.

No just inside the car! Lots of heat comes through the firewall, one thing I may do at some point is put down some fancy heat shielding. My friend who restores Zs found a guy who makes a custom AC for them.It was hot in the car that day! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>. Also remember the Zs have a reverse hood and two clicks to close it, I saw some rally cars only clicked it down once and leave the hood open about an inch in front of the windshield. I forgot to do it that day, but I have a new triple core aluminum radiator so that does a very good job.

Mine is very tight, I can barely get it on, I have to disconnect that end of the strut brace too . The only other option is zip ties and foam socks individually.

My problem is one of overhang, my alternator is right the hell there. My only option was velocity stacks and sock filter, but I bought the RamAir ones that stretch over the stacks. Hopefully it all fits, I don’t foresee an issue at this point but I can move the alternator forward a little more if need be.

The guy who I bought my 914 from was an industrial designer and had a fiberglass business that made louvers for that little side square, and custom hoods for Zs and c3 covettes so folks wouldn’t have to pop the hood . Funny part, was he was shipping all the parts to a dealership in long island and was supplying enough kits for over half the Z’s in the US. After meeting the dealerships real owners, he certian his shipments were just a front for the mob.

Oh yeah I’ve seen the inspection door vents, my issue with those is they let moisture down right above the battery. The early Zs have no vents so I decided to stick with a 240 hood and just pop it up a bit if it was showing signs of heating up too much. That radiator is really good, it actually cools it too much in the cooler months, I was thinking of making something to block part of it when it was cold.
