Hoarding?

Kinja'd!!!

For various reasons (such as not wanting to end up on a cot in a warehouse) we are actively working to not catch this bug.

We are both working from home and are hunkering down.

So every week for a while we are buying extra food so we don’t have to go out if it gets really thick. This wine should hold us over for 2 weeks......

Here’s the thing. This is spreading at a rate of 10 times every 2 1/2 weeks, British Columbia has 300 cases already, about 1/4 of all of Canada. Unless a shutdown flattens the curve, BC will have 3000 by April 10 and 30,000 b y May 1.

Granted many may be mild but why get it if you can hunker down. You do not want to be the unlucky person 3001 that needs a respirator. So if your situation allows, plan on hunkering down and to do that you need food.

My suggestion is to buy 2 weeks worth of food every morning at the supermarket until you either have enough or stop when you cannot go out safely.

Here’s the graph for Spain They had 280 cases on March 5, today 17 days later there are 21,500.

Spain had 280 cases confirmed through testing on March 5th, they actually had a lot more than that at the time, and they have a lot more than 21,5oo now. With testing so limited, the numbers of confirmed cases are pretty useless in telling us how prevalent this really is and how fast its actually spreading. It could be either better, or a lot worse than the numbers indicate. Heck, since most people don’t get sick from it, you or I  could have it right now.

What I do not get, is that by paying attention to those statistics, and noising them to other people as a safeguard, people would label you as being hyper overreacting.

The shitty thing is, after 7 weeks of unemployment, things are tight. Hard to prep

Maybe they are right, and we will be lucky and all we will have is 6 months of dog food. If not we tried. I hope to be lucky either way. Same to you,.

Isn’t gluten-free pasta sort of like dehydrated water?

Unfortunately, Vancouver is a hot spot. In 6 months from now, there will be those that got Covid and made it through, and those that didn’t get it and made it through. The rest had a bad time as healthcare will be swamped,

I can’t say for you but I believe steps taken now will help, even if in retrospect they were not needed. I’ve done a lot of endurance racing and the one thing I have learned is you cannot measure is the benefit of the things you did to prevent the wrecks and breakdowns you never had. May the year 2021 be the year you went wow, glad I made it through, regardless the severity.

All I can say is in my little part of western Wisconsin, 5 cases in the last 10 days gets my attention, All I can assume is people will get just as sick here as Spain.

Enough plague posting, let’s talk about cars!
