I’ve been working on my car in a high school auto shop, b ut now that shop is closed because coronavirus. With my partially disassembled car locked inside it. So there go at least a couple weeks of being able to work on my car... On the bright side, I did find a couple more photos of it that I forgot I’d taken, so now you can see it from more than just that one angle.

The passenger side of the car is the side that will need the most bodywork eventually, but for now I think it looks okay.

Both of my fun cars are in storage while I pack and empty the garage to have the floor re-poured, and I have a strong suspicion that it’s not going to happen on schedule.

What makes this annoying for me is that they’ll only let me work on my car there until summer, at which point they don’t care whether it leaves under it’s own power or on a tow truck. The lost time being able to work on it is a major inconvenience for me, and now I’m gonna have to scramble to get it put back together whenever they do let me back in, assuming that happens before summer...

I was a little afraid my Jeep might get stranded by the virus; fortunately that didn’t happen, and while there’s clearly something wrong with the results of the transmission rebuild, there’s no way I’m taking it anywhere I might have to leave it for any length of time.

They’ll probably offer some sort of an extension, doubt anyone except some maintenance and cleaning staff will be in the building at all between now and summer, and everyone is well aware of how difficult moving something like that can be now.

That’s really too bad, considering this is the best time to do some wrenching. Glad to see you dug up a different angle of it for once. Last time I checked, wasn’t the engine mostly rebuilt but still out of the car? How far along are you exactly?

Hopefully you can get it back soon, maybe get it back together too.

My portfolio and a few expensive art pads are stuck at the community college, classes are online for the rest if the semester, I'll a ttempt to get them back in summer

When I was in HS, I *may* have known a teacher with a grand master key, and I *may* have “borrowed” it and went to a close-by hardware store to make a few copies.  Just saying, I coulda gotten your car out ;) be friends with the art and theater teachers, as they’ve got to be in the buildings on weekends fairly frequently...

Actually, the engine never left the car. It got lifted a few inches to make room for tools to remove the exhaust manifolds, but it’s still in the engine bay. The last thing I did was put new piston rings on, and now I just need to buy new bearings because the old ones were looking a bit worn. Th en it’s just a matter of putting it all back together. But yeah, I wish I could be wrenching on it now. Especially since now would be a great time to drive a gas guzzler ;) Cheap gas is wasted on a 40 mpg Civic...
